Schoenenberg was released @ autumn 1992 and remixes came up to 1995 and its one of my fravorite trance tune until now. At that time Tijs Verwest currently know as DJ Tiesto was doing hardcore/old school hardhouse tunes with Maikel Van Hof and DJ Yves. Believe that.

the guy is damn right just as the all the other producers that i heard from. the most sad thing is that people still listen to it. actually more sad is the new people that are getting into trance. in my days trance was great and i am happy i got into it at yearly stage or else i would never liked it.
songs like "as the rush comes" just annoy me and the worst it was voted the best track here on the forum.
i heard people complaining about comercial bullshit eurotrance music, but NO, "as the rush comes" had to be voted the best trance track.
look at the older years and see if the best trance tracks were like this one. then you will understand how bad the music has gotten.

I mean I would say Ive only been jammin the good trance since about, 01', but I have gone back and listen to other stuff but Ive only been as far as 99. I mean wat years are we talking about where trance was apparently at its golden age. I thought 99-00' was the best years of trance. I ask this because a lot of people throw out tracks in which Ive never heard of, so jus so I can become a more well rounded music individual would anyone care to give me a history lesson.

I figured as much, just the "he is right and you know it"-part did give off a slightly different impression.

slighty trance elements have been shown as early as `92.
i guess many people got bored of techno and added new element to the this kind of music, and that element being melody.

then, in the years before `97 this sound so called "trance" have grown and changed. it has invented some more structures and got different then techno on more levels.

just at `97 eurodance crossed roads with trance and since then euro-trance has been introduced killing the old eurodance style, which had two main elements - rapper and a singer(usually), and fast rave-alike melody.
people at the time called that "techno" for some reason.

eurodance: rave-alike sound(melody)+(powerful)female vocals+rap(about piece and love)--------some uneducated called it "techno".

eurotrance: trance+vocals+cheap-melody(hook)-----some uneducated called it "trance".

eurodance dies 1997
after `97 trance and eurotrance(the new eurodance)are going in different category then techno.

then after `97 gets really hard to see what is where going. too much mixes of styles.
...but trance transformes, still gets really good at the process. really popular and pretty good. still fresh ideas and fresh talents.

so...to say the least, 98-01, somewhere in those years between, golden age for the style.

then, the overplaying killing it as it now.
i will say this new style: "progressive" as you may say it, is a lot bigger then the actuall trance.
Sasha and Digweed first started it, and people actually tought it was some kind of trance. Not exactly as both of them said they dont want to be reffered as trance djs.

so...progressive and this electroclash thing is really big in NY at the moment, also some parts in Europe i guess.

I just want to say that this seems to be a constant in electronic music.

Up until now, i was a psytrance addict. I spent a year and a half listening almost only to psytrance music, knowing it from the beggining to the shit that's coming out now, and as you can see, i don't like very much the music nowadays.

I got tired of psytrance because of that. I'm learning my ways as a dj, and new psytrance is just shitty commercial music compared to the perfect psychedelic gems that were produced between '95 and '00.
After this period, most music is shit. Most psytrance music played in parties is shit.

And the worst thing about this is that psy dj's are always looking to the future, always searching for new unreleased tracks and never looking back to the past, where they should. And it is considered heresy playing tracks which are older than a two years, at least for the small time dj's, which proliferate in the psy scene (there are very few big dj's in psytrance).

Bottom line is that now i'm spinning mainly house, a few tracks of progressive trance, and listening to goa from the good old days

In addition ot TheCritics repsonse to your post I would like to add that to get a taste of how it used to sound, check out the Classic Techno/Trance channel on www.di.fm

All tracks on that playlist are from pre '97. Most of them between 1992-1995.
