firstly Hybrid what proof would they have that it was me that created the room, secondly if it was just free to air sets recorded that were being swapped there would be no copyright infringement at all.

1. If it's called the AUTA room, it's obviously related to TA. We are one of the biggest music-related websites on the net, and attract a lot of attention.
2. As far as I'm aware, the legality of live sets is still dubious at best - simply saying that it's only sets being traded isn't really a good enough defence.

How would you like it if you got in shit because someone named a room NickNack's Copyright Infringement Room?
i think what nicknack is trying to get at is that that example would be nncir, its ambiguous and hard to think anyone would draw a connection, but i understand that the fat cats in the RIAA would not take ambiguity as an excuse, no matter how benign :/

i've always wondered about that, if you rebroadcast a set, lets say at a small party / club, would this be illegal in the eyes of the artist / radio station etc?

as far as i know you are breaching the copyright of the radio station or something, so its still illegal. i think radio 1 kicked up a fuss about it or something a while ago but im not sure.

Note people, saying "oh, but noone would figure out that au.TA means the australian TA forum" would not be defensible.
TA is well known. The announcement was made in public on a thread in the au.TA forum. That's going to be pretty convincing to any judge that it's linked with TA.

I don't know for sure that it *is* illegal, but I don't know of anything that says that it isn't....
Sort of like UFOs, not being able to prove their existence doesn't mean they don't exist, and vice-versa.

... i'm not sure how you got australian trance addict out of au.ta... because everyone knows that the aussie tennis authority is quite popular on soulseek... [used to be called the aussie rugby world cup auth.. but we changed it for all the obvious reasons.. ]
anyways, i've not seen too many like minded tennis fans on there lately
