This is good.

The worst thing ever said to me while I was spinning is a lady came out and asked if I could sping some "trance." WTF??? I was tag teaming with another DJ and all we were playing was trance. It cracked us both up.

8. WHAT DO YOU HAVE ?

SOME ASSORTED THINGS NOT TO SAY TO A DJ:
1. If you ask for a song and the DJ says he just played it

4. HOWEVER, if you are specific and the DJ says he doesn’t have that song, DON’T SAY "What!?!? What do you mean you don’t have it? what kind of DJ are you?

And above all....if the DJ has one hand on the mixing board, one hand on the turntable, and the headphones on....Don’t bug him

I've gotten ALL of the above, worst one I remeber was a stupid f**ker asking me to "PLAY SOMETHING GOOD". The place was packed and jumping (hardtrance), and he kept telling me to play some techno (Rush/Mills) which would have emtied the place. I told him to piss off, but he kept talking to me, ignoring this: "And above all....if the DJ has one hand on the mixing board, one hand on the turntable, and the headphones on....Don’t bug him"
unfortunately, there was nobody near I could have asked to kick him out of the club...what a jerk!
another very nice person spilled his beer AND knocked the needle off the record that was playing on a LOVEPARADE FLOAT!

My all-time favorite: Someone yelled this to Oakenfold:

"Dude, Can you play 'Tranceport'?"

I love the Midwest.

I just remembered something. A couple years ago in a club I've seen a guy drunk beyond imagination come up to a DJ and ask him to play some song, the DJ didn't have it. The guy snapped, he grabbed the frame that the mixer and turntables were suspended on and with the weight of his body pulled it down. Everything hit the ground. Not only the equipment was damaged but it also ended the night because the club had only one set of turntables. I don't wish anybody to hear a sound of a turntable/needle hitting the ground on clubs stereo system, I thought my eardrums were going to explode. I should add that it was Saturday around 11:30pm, so the night was just starting...

some people say some really stupid stuff when one is on the decks. i remember some years back a start up promoter hired me to spin in one of his event's rooms, while in the mix some kid walked up to the dj booth and asks me something while i was in the middle of mixing in the next track, so i jest with my hand for the dude to hold on, then i divert me attention to him and asked him "what can i do for you" then the dude said "can you play this song..." i didn' recognize the song's name so i was like "what is called again" and then he started humming the melody, i was like WTF is up this dude, i had to tell the guy "rave djs don't do requests"

People seem to be appeased when you play a trancy version of
some famous hip hop song.

Milkshake - Junior V version works for this really good.

That shuts them the fuck up.

God damn song is stuck in my head.

I dont think you wanna be a dude walking around saying
my milkshake brings the boys to the yard

Well- err- depending on what kind of club you're in?

well, my take on the "request" thing goes something like this:

how can i possibly fulfill a request when people ask for radio stuff and all i spin is MY BAND OF TRANCE, not anthemy stuff or crappy/shallow trance.

A friend of mine played a set recently, two hours of good European trance, afterwards some guy came up to him and said: "You should stop playing that American techno crap and start playing some Euro Dance music you know..." I was lost for words.
