Hi,

I intend to buy an Asus P4C800 or P4P800 motherboard which has onboard sound I believe. Can I disable it by going into the BIOS and changing something? What will I need to do?

Yes you can disable it. Usually it involves going to the Bios, going to the integrated peripherals menu (most well known bios manufacturers like Ami or Award use that terminology) and just set the onboard sound (or onboard AC '97) to disabled...
