If it wasn't for pop-up ads many sites on the web could not exist.
Nobody wants to pay for anything online yet they expect all the services they get to come to them for free...
The popups on the forums should only show up once per user session - if it fucks up I'm working on it but it's not meant to be annoying.
Either way, if the popups weren't here I couldn't afford to put all my time into the site and lose money at the same time.
Those popup killers aren't very efficient anyways, they look for certain strings/servers to act upon... all that can be easily changed to a random string and then none of them work.. Some porn webmasters use that on their website so that peeps who try to visit their site with ad blocking software will either not see the site or be re-routed and get all the popups anyways.
Some say it's as easy as disabling javascript - sure, but A LOT of sites use heavy javascript.. if you disable it here on ta you won't even see the music vids/tracks/livesets listed...
Popups came about since nobody really clicks on banners.

They're kinda like TV commercials... no one wants to see them, but at the same time, we're enticed by them... since there's nothing else to watch, we focus our attention on them... but they do become a nuisance at times... some sites hit you with a barrage of them... closing one of them opens up another two... you can see why one would be annoyed by it...
But we're complaining basically because we're spoiled

Ok.. that affiliatetarget one with the running down counter is gone, I forgot to take that one out..
The popup that does appear on the forums and other parts of the site now is tricky, I only get paid if it's up for 20 seconds... I need those few dollars a day to barely break even with this thing...
Now it seriously sucks that one of my main servers is being bitchy about bandwidth... I suppose the fact I pay 1/20th what I should for the bandwidth I use is one reason...but...if it comes to that I'll just be forced to offer less selection..
