Personally, I'm not that big a fan of these kind of lists.. Since you're paying for something you don't know..

OK, you'll probably only do it for a label of which you like the releases.. But every label can have bad releases, and then you're paying for something you don't like.

Then, the only reason for me would be to do it for the mere fact that you get promo's. Well, since I strongly believe that having new tracks doesn't make you a better DJ, that doesn't do it for me either..

quite a few labels offer a paying promo list, you just gotta find out the ones & hope you can afford it, as people have said, a lot of 'freebies' only goto the big named dj's or the media (ivibes trance.nu etc) as we can help sell more by publicising them etc

yeh, but if it means getting a tune that your REALLY like a few months before its release then its gotta be worht it i suppose, specially if you usually get stuff from that label anyway.

Yeah, but this holds only for myself I just don't think it's worth spending too much money on the chance you MIGHT get a good track a few weeks (or maybe a month or two) before everyone else does..

I'm not too label-bound when buying records anyway..

i agree with you mate, im VERY picky about my records and id hate to shell out for these promo deals coz i would probably only really like 1 in 10 of the records or summat

can always burn it to cd before it comes out then buy the record

Another bad thing is that, when buying PROMOS, the artists dont get any royalties. PROMOS doesnt count as record sales. So for those of you who loves supporting the artists, this surely is not the way.

Are there any record labels that do this for promos on CDR instead of vinyl?

There should be.. a very quick search on Google learned that Cuba Recordings does it (though I don't know them).. I think this is an indication that there are other labels who do too..

Though I can't be arsed looking for them.. I don't have time, I don't like trance and I don't have a CDJ

youve got it wrong mate, YOU, yes YOU get to pick which releases you are interested in.

positiva only send me trance cd promos for instance. you jsut check the style you like and give em your top 20 ofhte moment when you apply and they guess what you would be interested in / likely to play out.

positiva dont charge for their promos either.

also some labels LOAN you the promos now for free (i.e. you send the records back after the promotional period)
