just a thought

I am new to TA and have just been browsing around. There is such a wide variety of musical tastes that run through here... even within the trance genre. Having been around "the club scene" for a long time. I have seen it grow and widen and become this great international culture. I find it interesting that, as it has grown and branched off, the love of dance music that bonded us together, now divides us. Please don't get me wrong... everyone has their own tastes and expressing them is part of defining our indivduality. I have just noticed that at times, people and or artist are really railed into. Makes me just a little sad. As far as where the music is headed, who knows.. it is always changing and every artist needs and wants to grow and change..to express themselves. An artist , no matter what the medium, evolves over time. Their brains are always moving on and exploring, searching for that place of expression. A painters style may change or color palette may differ over time, but their work still holds part of them and what they are experiencing. The same holds true for music. At the same time, I think those who appreciate and enjoy the art, that are connected to it with their soul , grow also (and being a part of this forum speaks volumes as to how you are connected to music) It is a process that happens together. So no worries and no predictions for my part.. I continue to love this journey with dance music, and will forever.

sometimes i wonder if people on rock or rap or country forums have the same arguments...


It seems to me their forumula has stayed relatively true to its roots for over 60 years (ROCK). innovation in genres helps, yes, but it's still pretty much the same recipe for songs

Trance, i think, is the same way. It still has the same recipe as it did circa 1998 and 1999 but it's using different ingredients. Take a gander and realize that there's more trance tracks being realized that arent being played by every single DJ in clubs around the world or on ASOT or other prominent DJ Radio Stations.

Find something new (breaks, prog, Dnb etc...) and find out where they got their synths from or their layers from. Research and find what you like. Don't listen to the elitist telling you what to listen to. Find out for yourself where the music is evolving towards and what the outcome may be

I don't post that often but read a new one of these about once or twice a week. All I have to say is....I Love Trance. I aprreciate all other styles of music as well. Hip hop for the beats, Rock for the riffs, some songs for the lyrics, and of course trance for the melodies and for taking me to another place (and no i don't do drugs). But man seriously, I have only listened to 2 livesets on my computer, our trance scene here in seattle is not that big but we do get headliners to come through, like AVB on the 20th and i go to all the trance parties, never get sick of it. Life is good and trance is gettin better and better. Thanks to TA i also find a new banging tune every day, the vinyl collection is growing too. Trance is ALIVE, to me at least. Lates.
