That has absolutley nothing to do with it.

Ian, go to mozilla.org and download Mozilla Firebird. The regular Mozilla is bloated with other stuff that you don't need, firebird is your best bet.

I can't affoard a diet coke.

BTW, make sure you get Firebird, it's easy to get the regular Mozilla and not realize it (which is exactly what I did at first). It's also got quite a few decent themes/skins, and it's got hundreds of extentions (IE - Plugins) that really do improve it.

And as a follow up, here is what Microsoft recommends their customers to do to avoid problems with the spoofed url bugs in IE:

http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...%5Bln%5D;833786

From the article:

"The most effective step that you can take to help protect yourself from malicious hyperlinks is not to click them. Rather, type the URL of your intended destination in the address bar yourself. By manually typing the URL in the address bar, you can verify the information that Internet Explorer uses to access the destination Web site. To do so, type the URL in the Address bar, and then press ENTER. "

Ohhh, so that's the problem! Links!!, We should be typing them manually, we shouldn't be clicking them ! I knew there was something I was doing wrong, Duh!, stupid me.

How can someone write this crap?

Well although the regular mozilla might be bloated, there's always custom install
It's true there are a few things that you may not need but i have to say i prefer mozilla to firebird, although i do have both browsers on here

Either ways, so long as it's not IE, it's all good

That's possibly the most hilarious piece of crap i've read coming from microsoft so far. I sincerely hope this is some sort of early (very early) april fool's joke or something
Who the fuck is going to type a link?! Yeah... most users aren't going to read that, and if they do (which i doubt) they probably wouldn't do it anyways.

I downloaded Mozilla Firebird today. Overall, I'm impressed. Only two issues:

-IE loads 1 second quicker. But once you have the program open, Firebird is much faster than IE

-I hate having to readjust the font size

-I want all windows to open as tabs

Thanks for the tip!

Not that i know of

I tried getting rid of it on 2k but its impossible. Best thing you can do is just remove all the shortcuts to it and only use the cmd line if you should have to bring it up...

Well as far as i know, for tabs, you can download the mouse gestures plugin which will open links as tabs when you move your mouse upwards while clicking on the link.

You can get those here

*edit*

i forgot, if you don't want to download the gestures, which i recommend you do anyways because it's pretty useful, you can always right click the link and choose "open as tab"
