Thank you for that compliment
I think writing good trance music, or any type of music for that matter, is something that cannot be taught in books and tutorials. I have no musical theory, but what I do have is passion for the music. I don't know how I write melodies. It just seems to come out of my emotions. If I am feeling confident I'm more likely to write something powerful and epic. If I'm feeling depressed then most of the time my melodies come out dark.
Also you must be your own worst critic. Some days I'll work on a melody for hours and won't get anywhere so I move on till I feel more inspired.
My devotion to the music is probably my most powerful tool for composing. I love the music so much and I have listened to it for so many years, that my mind is some how connected to it in some sub concious way. Hard to explain, but sometimes just listening to a favorite track of mine will inspire me to write great things. My first melody that I composed a few months back was inspired by the track Mat Silver vs Tony Burt - The Ultimate Wave. After hearing this song I went into some kind of trance and I composed the melody to "The Relentless Heart". Although this melody was directly influenced by that track, it did not sound like it, but did have the same uplifting vibe to it. At the time I had just begun producing so my sound was very unrefined. But I sent the sample to Mat Silver and he loved it and wanted to remix it even though my track wasn't good enough to be released because of my poor mixing skills. I don't know what the future will hold for that track, if they will ever actually remix it , or if I'll eventually finish it.
But one thing I do know is I will never stop producing.
Peace
