probably stockport are bigger cos theyve got huge chinese following due to being first team to ever tour over there

I'm at Uni in Liverpool and I think this is a bit of a myth. I generally see more Liverpool shirts in the streets than Everton, although obviously I can't say whether these people are tourists/students or genuine scousers. Dunno, Liverpool's a glory supporting club same as Man Utd. I went to John Moores and most of the Liverpool fans there weren't from Liverpool. Also some of my scouse mates said people at Anfield get pissed off with the amount of glory supporters there..

I'm at John Moores. I know what you mean, a lot of the Liverpool fans around are students from around the country. Everton fans like to make out that Everton is "the people's club" and Liverpool is a tacky tourist outfit, but then they would say that. I get the impression it's a pretty even split.

Certainly Liverpool has much more support outside the city than Everton. I was surprised by the number of fans inside Anfield from all over England and Ireland. That's why there are songs such as "Have you ever seen a scouser in the kop?" and "Taxi for London". It must piss off a lot of the scousers that they can't get season tickets, but this is a growing problem elsewhere. The last Newcastle game I went to at St James' we were surrounded by people with southern accents - blatantly students - who didn't give a crap about the result. It's one of the many reasons why atmospheres in stadiums all over Britain are dying.

I don't have a problem where the supporters are from, so long as they care about their team and don't take their place in the stadium for granted. People who keep passionate fans out of the ground and then leave before the game is even finished really hack me off.
