The problem with these units is the torque, and anybody on here can tell you torque means "everything", when it comes to making your mixes being smooth. I can say if you do buy the STR8- 80's, and after playing with them awhile. You'll only wind up wishing you had saved up for Vestax, or Technics later. And problem is you'll lose alot of money if you have to sell off the Stantons later, to get Technics, or Vestax. Don't make the same mistake I did, when I started out long ago don't buy hype. Buy what is proven to work and not quit on yas, and the only two companies with that reputation are Technics, & Vestax. Trust me I'm only trying to help you make the right choice, and save you alot of money, and wasted time! I cannot empahasize how much I mean seriously don't buy the Stanton hype, save up and get what is proven to work. You'll be way, way, way, happier with Technics, or Vestax. Or don't listen to everybody's advice and get the Stantons or Numarks, you'll just wind up kicking yourself later!

Well it would be nice if the TTX1 was a good table, I work at Guitar Center and have used all the Turntables that we carry. And the thing about the TTX1 is that while the torque is there, it only takes a little pressure being applied to stop the platter dead in it's tracks. I'm sure you'd agere that Technics does not suffer this problem, nor does Vestax in my experience. We have'nt gotten the TT500 yet, so I'll just assume it carries the same problems the TTX1 carries! for instance the changeable tonearm will cut your turntables tone arm life in half; not a good thing, everytime you change the tonearm it wears down the connectors till you'll get an annoying static sound that won't go away ever. But I hear Numark is addressing these problems in the TTX2, so If your thinking about going Numark wait for the TTX2. Plus I used a buddies TTX1 at a live performance once and during mid set the tonearm came out of the socket and ran a needle accross and destroyed a record of mine so "BUYER BEWARE". The Stantons well they both th1 STR8- 100/150 both pick up alot of feedback if a speaker is anywhere near them, and unfortunately the tonearm is cheap and plasticey feeling. And it requires little force down on the platter to stop the platter dead in it's tracks, so they suck for scratching and mixing all in general. This is from first hand experience, the Stantons, and Numarks are all hype and carry useless features. And I love that Bullshit claim that the STR8-150's have 4.4 kg. of torque, yeah I put that table next to a Vestax and a Technics and can assure that it is a load of crap the Stantons can't keep up with the Techs or Vestax, and do not even compare to the mighty Technics or Vestax tables!

Huh are you kidding me? We get the Numark tables from the Numark company distributor here in California the same place all Numarks come from on the West coast. Where do you think they come from some kinda black market dealer. Shit we got a test DEMO of the Numark CDX and I think it is awesome, so I'm not dissing Numark. I'm just stating what is definetly wrong with the TTX1 and why Numark should fix these problems. And as I said all these problems that I listed above are real problems, that Numark is fixing in their new TTX2 model. The tables build quality is there it's just up to Numark to address these very important design flaws. Tell your friends to switch from the S-shaped to the Straight tonearm more than 4 times guaranteed and see what happens. I 100% guarentee the Connector on the TTX1's tonearm will get worn, and cause massive static, and distortions in sound! I have atleast 3 people a month bring back their TTX1's complaining about that same problem. And my only answer is that they took the gamble on the Numark!

Yeah, you should definitely consider picking up some used technics or vestax tables-if ebay makes you uncomoforatable, then try www.musicgoround.com; if you order something online, they give you a week or so to check it out and the option to return for a refund Last week I saw some Mk3s for $219 each . They may have been pretty beat, but that's something you can always discuss with them before purchase.
