same problem...I moved to UCLA since september...here people are so stereotyped!! All muscles and perfect bodies, but no brain, no real interest. I come from Bologna, Italy, and that's the italian city where the trance wave is stronger so far...I am very into it, but I found out that people my age, in the U.S. at least, don't really care about it generally.

Hang on!

There are people here that like EVERYTHING, it seems every new person I meet has a different and interesting music taste. There are several other people who like trance here, overall, im very happy with the musical tastes around my school, I have found many fin things from coming here.

As for the talk about primitive structures go, I agree with them! It is the whole primitiveness about trance which makes me like it so much, the way something that uses so much technology to create can release the most primitive feelings from a person, making them dance like psychos and such. Sure other music might be more civilized and whatnot, but I listen to this stuff to let out those urges I (and I hope most other people) get.

nice feedback, uni seems to suck concerning trance somehow...

and they have a great fascination for guitar music, most prefer go to a theater than to a (trance) club.

Sometimes people say in a so generous way, "oh I liked techno when I was thirteen" but I think now it all sounds the same...and worst thing is: Some people think at Jan Wayne, Groove Coverage, Benni Benassi, Scooter or Lasgo when I say "trance".

this is so weird to me, because in Italy - or at least in my city - uni is the place where the most of the trance listeners gather! Maybe because its a very liberal town, or I dont know, but this is a fact...I don't see why in the U.S. the scene is so different

i'd think a lot of ppl in Germany's Uni's would be into trance, i'm surprised that it's not. but most ppl in Germany know who Paul van Dyk is right?

in America ppl would just be like Paul van what?

I go TO UC Berkeley and I'm sure I'm into trance more than anyone else attending my school

I've only met like 2 ppl who listen to trance and kno who Tiesto, Ferry, PvD, Armin are.

I'm gettin my friends to listen to trance tho

most of the time I just feel priveleged that I am into such great music that no one else here seems to give much care about

I've always thought that Berkeley people would have had a more free and easy feeling on every kind of music genre...since it is still so much into the hippie culture!

I'd love to go to a rave in San Francisco...Man, I've heard there are the most amazing outdoors there!

To me, the people at UCLA just look as they put so much effort in being ALL THE SAME at eachothers. No willing to do,or try something different, but being as much as the others aspect you to be.

I sort of feel priveleged too in the sense you mean it, but sometimes I miss someone to share my passion with...(someone with a car if possible, cause I dont have one and I NEED people to get me to clubs!! )

The one and only time I ever saw a fellow trancer at my uni was on a message board. They were looking for people to go to a PVD gig with, but I couldn't get in at the time. I tried to contact them for later and got no answer.
So I seem to be the only one.
I'm surprised that unis aren't more open to this stuff, hmm.
