well I think it is all location. If you try to get a venue on the strip your target is basically tourist. They are not in it for the music at all, they won't return. They look for people and everything but the music.
I've been hanging out at some shows off the strip, granted they are small and free, but they are gathering more and more people. sucky part about that is that they hate trance, they are drawn to more house, breaks, DnB, and stuff like that. Which is cool by me, but I like to play trance.
if you wanna check out some shows, this sunday at Curve is vegas after 10's anniversary party. should be cool.
baby steps. I think we just need baby steps. |
i been here so long that it has nothing to do with tourists or locals majority of the people come from cali that visit vegas and many are well aware of the electronic scene.. The problem with local parties is that is so hard to get a good enough following because locals dont come out and support these smaller parties. It mainly has to do with the amount of venues and the people who run these parties..... the fact is every can casino has a club serverl of them , then you have promoters who run the booking and runing of the promotions for the party who have no sense of the music scene. Thats why you have numerous clubs playing crap. Back in 98 ,99 when the clubs were as numerous as now there were few clubs that really held the crowds well one of Club Utopia every weekend that place was packed and with Robert Olyseyck being the resient weekly and also balance promo dj you had some nice underground stuff. They also had monthly residents of Kimball Collins and Donald Glaude. The place would sttay open till 8 - 9 in the morning with people still in there. So it has nothing to do with locals or toursists because its all a mean your get same precentage of tourists enjoying electronic music as you have locals garenteed. Im not big for Trance anymore as i used to be back in the day ...Progressive is where im at in my time of life... well to be honest im trying to start a weekly night out on Saturday in talks with a nice location now ill let you guys know the details when everything is set in stone.
