As a recovering Mac user, all I can say is PC all the way. Macs are:
A: Overpriced
B: Hard to shop for unless you live near a CompUSA or an Apple store (meaning they have sparse compatible software/hardware)
C: Overrated.
I switched over because I was sick of nothing being available for Mac, mainly the free stuff like Winamp, Kazaa, etc. And everything being twice as expensive. I got a new 19" monitor, computer with a 60 gig harddrive, 2.68gig processor (or close- I can't check because I'm at work now)running XP for $1500 dollars american. My G4 that I bought 3 years ago was 2500.
If you feel more comfortable with a Mac, get one. But beware, you're going to be part of a quickly shrinking minority. Things are basically going to be closed off to you and support for your programs will be almost non-existent. Basically, Apple treats it's customers like it's a privilege to own one of their machines. PC's are *slightly* harder to use but the difference is negligable, considering the trade-offs. Save yourself time and money and get a pc.
