yup - I am only planning on using these to record my vinyl to CD, so that is perfect.

If you already have an Ortofon concorde headshell, all you need is the stylus which is slightly cheaper.

You are incorrect...spherical needles wear out your vinyl faster. Elliptical needles match the record groove the best, and require less tracking force which = less record wear. Also they don't just have to be for recording, you can DJ with them as well, but they don't track as well as spherical needles do, thats why sphericals are used mainly for DJ use, because the vibrations of the club system are less likely to make it jump out of the groove. Don't beleive me? do a google search on a respected site that talks about record needles and wear and you shall see.

Unless I am reading something wrong, everywhere else I have read that Elipitcal styli produce better sound quality at the expensive of increased record wear. Can someone else verify this

EDIT:
I read a site and it seemed to make sense that Elipticals wear out records less...

heres a site that you should check out about the different needle types and such. I don't know why a lot of people on this board don't know the basics about record wear, and they spend a lot of money on their vinyl collections, and claim sphericals wear out vinyl less than ellipticals do.

http://www.needleexpress.com/faq.htm

This reading has a lot of great info vinyl collectors need to know

I got Concordes and love them, that do what I want, so no complaints here, I know how to set up a cart, but man its nice just to plug them in and no pissing around with little wires.

No doubt, I just picked up a set of whitelabels, 2 Tech MK5's and a Rane Empath mixer. Concordes and the whitelabels kick ass.

werd, i have whitelables too. they sound really good. luckily i didn't have to spend money on them. my g/f bought them for me.. . she got 2 for 120 too. thats on the cheap side. i really think whitelabels are a good choice because even though they are elliptical and made for mixing use, they have never skipped on me. even when i back cue really fast or when i bump the table. it seems to hold the groove extremely well. apparently they also have the lowest record burn on any needle.

Uhh... From Shure's "Needlez" site. "Spherical styli, like those used on the Whitelabel, are recommended for Dj applications"

ooo.. i was under the impression that it was elliptical cuz it was advertised as a mix needle, not turntablism needle. oh well... either way, they sound and look great. hehe

^^UGGGHH you like the whitelabels? I don't know I still think the M44's are better than those; the whitelabels have a high pitched sound that hurts my and alot of other dj's ears. prolly why I just stick to Ortofons can't go wrong.
