All of you are talking about Markus like he's some flash-in-the-pan DJ. You forget that he's been around a lot longer than the hype in late 2003 makes it seem. Ever heard of "You Wont See Me Cry"? That's a fuckin classic...
True, he hasn't been around as long as some of the trance grandaddies, but he definatley has staying power. You guys would've probably been saying the same thing about PvD back in 1994 as you are saying about Markus now. "well, PvD is ok...but he's no Frankie Knucles!"
Every DJ has a timeframe in which the operate, Markus is just earlier along in his than PvD or Tiesto, who in my opinion only have a few good years left in them at the most.

Most of his sets are of more interest thats for sure. His Oceanlab remix is by far the best to.
Agree???
Lets hope we get more of him playing here in the UK. I know his down to play at GK next week.

Try spelling the name right before you even give an opinion of someone.

just a thought...its Markus Schulz btw....not Marcus....

I am a huge fan of Schulz's, and Im thankful as hell that his kind of groundbreaking work is becoming more and more popular. This scene needs producers like Schulz to free us from repeating the same style over and over - something trance is notorious for.

However, comparing Schulz with the big boys like Ferry and PvD really isnt fair. Although he does have a lot of studio and production experience, he has only been relatively popular in recent months. PvD and Ferry have been on top for years, and thats not by having 1 or 2 hits, thats by constantly evolving with the scene, touring 24/7, and working your ass off.

Personally, I think Schulz is more creative and has a much more innovative production style than PvD and Ferry, but he needs to keep it up and for a long time to be truly comparable to the world's top DJs.

Best of luck to Markus definitely. When the hell is he coming to Toronto! (Ferry is here March 13 )

Have to agree with beema, Markus has been around a lot longer than his hype has. As Edge Factor he has been doing progressive trance since the mid 90s with CL McSpadden, and like already mentioned, You Won't See Me Cry has also been doing the rounds. I think he has been doing GBDJ for quite some time too. It's only recently that his popularity has skyrocketed. As for whether he could take on PvD, Ferry etc., that's just a matter of taste as usual.

The problem is, you go ask many non-internet clubbers who he is and you wouldn't get as many answers, esp from Europeans, Australians etc, which was why I said he'd got to prove him self on a whole new level to be spoken in the same sentance as the 'big' names. I'm sure he can even tho the music isn't to my taste, but again he's got to become a household name to be considered 'a great' good luck to him on it too, he's a nice guy & heather is cool too, so we'll see if he has it in him if he manages to spread out more

Anyhow, personally I find his stuff pretty boring to be honest, it just lacks something. For me, he'll never compare to people like Ferry, but it really does come down to personal taste in the end. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
