i used to have an extreme socialphobia. Its very hard to get over and people don't realize how challenging it can be. it's not a matter of "just talk to someone!".
I did this during my bad times, and my psychology would make me pay for it each time. I would have to go to the bathroom after every social encounter to vomit. Imagining this happening everyday at school, where of course, rumors get started and rampant ridicule. It's not very fun. Of course, frustration, stress and depression are down the road for people who do not get help for it.
From what i've heard, Paxil, which is already prescribed for depression, helps ease the anxiety during social encounters. It worked for me. Paxil DOES work, it just takes the umph to practice the social skills while taking it. Say hi to people on the street, get into a conversations with customers at work, etc.

one way to get rid of it is like so...
1. Learn to relax, deep breathing, pleasant thinking...anyway you can, just learn some relaxation.
2. start off small, go into some social situations that cause the smallest anxiety. Then remember your relaxation techniques.
3. slowly get into more and more anxiety provoking situations....always remembering your relaxation.
after a few months you'll be cured. |
In an idealistic world, you've found the cure. Unfortunately for some of us who suffer from anxeity as related to neurological dysfunction, sometimes it takes years and years of therapy coupled with corrective medication, and often that only prohibits the worsening whilst the subject remains as they initially were before treatment. Whether or not you have anxeity issues based on TS (Tourette's Syndrome) or not, the reading is extremely comprehensive as far as neurological disorders go. Often a simple social anxeity developing in the later teenage/early adulthood stage is a precursor to much more serious issues such and bi-polar disorder, serious disabilitating anxeities, and even believe it or not, is an initial characteristic of schizophrenia. I execute rather sane behavior in a super linear way, not confusing action/direct or otherwise consequence, but because of my anxeity and obsessive compulsive disorder, I'm at risk of being one of those guys you see downtown (with ducks for best friends) creating intense bi-partisan relationships with inanimate objects. I'm already scatterbrained beyond recognition as far as thought processes concearn me. So the moreal of the story is: You're probably just a nerd and thats ok , but go to the doctor and see what he says, becuase in most cases (with the occasional excuse of post traumatic induced psychosis of anxeity) anxeity symptoms ger progressively worse, as you condition yourself to your buffer of comfortable routine. Anyway. Yeah, you might just not like people much, like some of us.
[Edit: The ganj evened me out in highschool, but now I just get very depressed when I'm high. I get dilusional, connecting unrelated events to create catastrophic thoughts that lead to abnormal pathology untill the high is gone. Or maybe i'm just so cloudy on every average say that when i smoke the ganj and clear up my head I realise even moreso how fucked up the world is. Idunno. As far as mood goes I only operate normally under the influence of fairly strong narcotics such as percocet, which leads to a dependance and BAAAD withdrawl crankies, so don't do it. ]
