[i][b]Synaesthesia will go down as one of the all time top classics in so many peoples eyes; remixes are just fucking pointless. Why do artists keep seeing the need to do this.
Cus the Pulser remix always rocks"!!! And it will be the surprise heh in this re-release, heh"!!!
in any case im glad new remixes/remakes are made of Point Zero...i think the new ones sound better than the original imo, so sometimes it's all the better to re-release classic tracks

Breaks are notorious for taking old tunes be it 70s, 80s, or trance and throwing a breakbeat behind it.
Where can I hear the new remixes?

I like the breaks remixes of Xpander, Age of Love, etc. That's different than the "2004 remake with some new synths" that were done to Gamemaster and other classic tunes. It's fine to take an old trance tune and turn it into breaks, or to take an old rock song and rework it (Teen Spirit Seven Nation Army), or to take an old track and make it into a trancer. But to take something and say "Hey, this was big in '99, here it is with synths from five years later!" is getting lame...
I disgree on Point Zero. I think that the original was the best, and while Kuffdam's remix is pretty good, it can't top the original. The other remixes just make the track ugly.

Kuffdam's rmx is indeed nice but you don't like Darey's remake or leama and moor's rmx?? what about the digital blonde's rmx? i personally think the latter is one of their best productions...just hear how crazy the crowd goes in Fleming's Coloursfest set when he drops it

Ever code? As a software engineer, I’m always disgusted when I look back at old code of mine because as I learn more the way I write code changes. Producing is very much the same way. I bet Steve or any other producer for that matter looked back at their old works and thought he could refine the track using better production techniques. Yes it’s not very musically original but from a production stand point it’s likely superior.

You haven't seen Mona Lisa getting an update every 5 years, have you?
Remaking old tunes is always about the money. No exceptions, no matter what they say about "artistic need to update it" or any other crap.
I dunno if Synaesthesia really needs an update. Its good as it is.

I totally agree with Mystery here. There is no need for new versions if the old version is already a perfect classic. It's getting absolutely ridiculous with all these updates/remakes/remixes which seem to increase every year. I really don't understand why do all the big names suddenly want to remake their past hits.. it seems money has become way too big of an goal to achieve for them. There comes like 100+ new versions of old tracks out every year. Doesn't look too promising.

Case in point: Armin closed his essential mix with the original mix of Point Zero (from 1994 mind you) and it didn't seem out of place in the least. Hardly needs "updating" then does it?
The problem with these new remixes is most of the time all they do is throw the artist's latest presets on top of the old track. Ferry Corsten's "Second Edition" of Out Of The Blue is a prime example, which saw release on the b-side of Solstice. It's exactly the same as the original -- only problem is by smoothing out all the rough edges he also removed all the drive and urgency from the track.
If you're going to take on an old classic, at least do something different with it! Give us a reason to play your new mix instead of just going back to the original. Plastic Angel did a great job remixing Greece 2000 last year and I'd say it's one of the better mixes. These kind of updates are great and I see no harm in them, but enough with the "second editions"!
