Ya it is! I would rather use some hard Drum n Bass for a good scare...

DJ Dara or Freaky Flow would bug everyone out at the place!

I just got a few more details as to what my set is going to be like. The set will be three hours long, and I have a (you'll get a laugh out of this) budget of $300.

You could imagine the look on my face

Still no word on what genre/s I'll be playing (they really need to let me know soon...). Right now my biggest concerns are finding the tunes that I will use to fill up my three hours, and managing to get a decent loan on equipment for under $300 (how the heck am I supposed to do that?!?)

Nice suggestions on the songs. I'll definately try Paul Van Dyk and Veracocha.

Tranc3: If you hired a DJ to do J-Pop, I would come into your club a day early, camp out at the entrance, and dance to that all night and morning. Bring on the Ayu!

And if they dont appreciate any of them pack yer records up and fuck off

Mauro Picotto - New time, new place
DK8 - Murder was the bass
Cohen V Deluxe - Just kick
Dead or Alive - us spin me round (jeff mills/techno mix)
Moguai - U know Y
Ferry Corsten - Punk (winner every time)

my thoughts exactly

If someone asks me to play hitparade music, I would friendly ask him to fuck off . As jimmi said, you can try the classics like cafe del mar, carte blanche, PvD, Gouryella, Out of the Blue, etc., but if they don't dig that, pack your stuff and leave. As a dance-music DJ, you should play your style.
As Conk said, you have to adjust to the audience, but there are limits to adjustment. By playing rubbish like hitparade-music, you are crossing that border m8...
