www.ebay.com Just look around. Again, I bought my Stanton sk 2f on ebay for $150, and I love it compared to anything behringer has. IMO, behringer is what people get suckered into, as you can find much better *slightly* used mixers on eBay. |
for turntables I'd recommend that... But for mixers, I don't know. You don't know what the last owner did with the mixer. You (in most cases) don't know how old the mixer really is and stanton or behringer, faders don't give troubles the first 2 weeks of usage, but after a few months or more.
A used mixer is worth half the price of a new one... why?
-The warranty is probably already void
-The faders are used and that's what limits the maximum age of your mixer.
-Less important is that there usually are traces of usage, well, not that important, but worth pointing to it. If you can go test the mixer, you won't have problems. I went testing an sl1200 once that where it "was noticeble that it was used". If I didn't went testing it, I'd have bought an almost unusable sl1200 that didn't even have the on-off switch anymore. I'm not saying all those sellers are dodgy, but you need to be carefull with people that don't have any points...
I don't know how it's there, but there is a relatively big price difference between the VMX300 and the SK2f. Eventually you'll grow out of both the VMX300 and the SK2f into something like the DJM600. But all begin is tough and I can't help it, but in the beginning you're playing for yourself. In the beginning don't buy shit you can't use like I did. I bought a mixer of 60 and I dumped it after 2 months. That's was a mixer with crackling faders! I threw away 60 I could've spent on vinyl and I'm still pissed off about that. Now my VMX300 is about 14 months old and I use it 15 hours a week and I have to say that I haven't got any problems with crackling faders.

This poll was done a few months ago... In the lower middleclass mixers, behringers mixers do score relatively high.

As a gemini user, i hate them, i really hate them. PS-626, ok layout, sound quality is ok but the build quality is terrible and occasionaly i just stops working and you have to tap it in the correct place to get it working... not dust or anything like that! Then again, i don't like the pioneer gear very much either... poor build quality on a lot of models especially the djm500 and the nobs fall of on all of them. I find the layout less than intuitive. Sound quality is also sub standard on a pioneer, due to the digitalisation of everything that goes through it. Haven't used a behringer so i can't comment.
