Well..Ill only comment on DJs Ive seen. Jules wasnt arrogant, Fergie Wasnt, Tim Lyall, Dave Lea, Rob Tissera they all werent....hmm..In Fact the Only DJ who WAS arrogant was:

Sandra Collins

She was arrogant as shit. Showed up 15 minutes before her set, left as soon as it was over(ie she was out of the club before we were)

i hear ya... only sometimes the DJ's have to be somewhere else right away (meeting with promoters, another club, etc...) so you can't always blame them.... but you can tell sometimes by the way they act when they spin...... but you're right...

one thing that i will say is bad-ass about Picotto, when i went to go see him live, he was the last DJ supposed to go on, but the WHOLE night he was partying with us in the crowd! He's a cool dude, pretty good dancer too!

even after all this, the minority that dont like him still cant come up with a decent argument to substantiate their opinions.

dude, i WISH they were the minority..... unfortunately we're outnumbered... which is why i feel i have to defend him all the time..

actually its funny that all the oakie-haters have stayed outta this one... i guess thats because they are all in the music forum - if this thread was posted in there, you'd be seeing a WHOLE different bunch of hate-replies!

peace!

I think Jules can be a bit arrogent sometime on his Radio 1 show. And I saw a documentary on him a year back where cameras were following around for a week and he seemed to be a bit up himself

I don't know how to explain it, I've always thought DJ's should have a very "this is my set, I hope you like it guys" attitude whereas Jules' seems to be more "right, coz I'm so big and famous and shit, I've heard all these tunes first so I hope you feel priviliged coz I'm going to play you some now".

But then as has already been pointed out, he loves music and he's good at what he does. Plus I've never met him. I know if I ever got that famous I'd be the most unimaginable wanker on the planet so fair play for keeping their feet on the ground anyways

Pete Tong...

I wouldn't normally think so, but he came to DC in March or April or something. He asked one of the promoters to, "Get me some pills and an eight-ball, damnit."

When we informed him that was quite impossible he said, "But I'm Pete Tong, I never pay for anything."

Pyscho.

OAKIE 's got so much money already that he could just stop Djing any time he wanted but he doesnt WHY???

Don't think DJ's play only for money. Also status/fame can be a reason not to stop playing. I'm not saying that Oakenfold is like this, but some Dj's are...
Almost every DJ start off with playing for free, and many DJ's start to play because they think it's interesting (fame, status)
You definately can see whenever someone is like that. I think it's stupid to think that you can get anything for free, 'just because you're a DJ'... I always pay for a drink, even when I'm playing in a club or on a party.

I can't say whoever of the known DJ's is arrogant (I just saw Armin van Buuren once, he's very spontaneous), but I do know that many starting DJ's are, because there are many people who start DJ-ing because of the consequences they like, not for the music.
Never set the DJ on a pedestal, he's playing the music other's made. That's his (or her ) job.
They're human like you and me, and as ABTsportsline said: also Dj's have their moods, so don't judge on stories. I mean, there are a lot of people who like to tell you about someone 'famous', even if it's something not too nice, just because they want to show off by letting people know that 'they know that famous DJ'... as if...

well one DJ that isn't arrogant (at least from what ive seen) is Timo Maas Last week @ Freedom I went to go see him spin a 3 hr set (which might i add was awesome ). When he arrived at the club he headed back to the ''special room'' with a dude carrying his vinyls and a bouncer. then he just left the room and walked around the club, listening to the other dj spin. on his way back to the ''special room ()'' i went up to him and said ''huge fan!!'' stuck my hand out to see if he would shake it er not...he just smiled greatly, shook my hand and said ''looking forward?'' i was like 'ya!' then he just smiled even more, nodded and walked on.....alright, i think ive told this story about 400000000000 times now, but what the hell. :

Oaky is definitely, but I love his shit anyways. When we were waiting in line to get into the Tent to see him at Area One he came walking by struting like a peacock with a broom up his #$@. People were screaming his name OAKY OAKY......... He didn't even turn toward the crowd he just kept walking. When I saw Van Dyk Friday he was talking to people around the both reacting to the crowd he even took one girls digital camera and took a picture of her and him. It was cool to see him react with the crowd as almost an equal instead of the bigleagueing them.
