the only way of beating jet lag, that i know of, is to prevent it.
when i go to india, to visit the fam. i put my watch to indian time, and make sure on the plane, i sleep when its night there, and stay away when its day there. not when im tired or not.
works everytime!
ofcourse, india could be interchanged for YOUR destination country

Anybody else have any home-brew solutions?
Melatonin? wtf no one ever told me about that.
I always suffer major jet lag doing ireland-canada canda-ireland, the only way i work with it is force my body to get used to the different time-zone (5hr diff can be pretty big ), so that when i get to canada for example, even if its 3am ireland time, i try staying awake till at least 11pm canada time.
Not everyone can do that though so if it doesn't work for you, i suggest trying something my uncle (who is a pilot) does. He just goes to sleep whenever he feels like it, even if it's just for a few hours. Somehow that works for him but meh... I'd miss out on too much if i did that.

Sorry, no magic solutions for this, I'd love to know myself. Drink lots of water when you're flying, that's the most I've heard.

Oxygen therapy.
If you're at an airport with an oxygen bar, hook yourself up for 10 mins. If not, then I think you're pretty much fooked.
