I thought the party was pretty rad all in all...
I don't really care who goes, as long as they are having a good time. The thing that bugs me are the people that go, get totally messed, and then look like they are having the shittiest time of their lives. Just standing in the middle of the dance floor with a big frown, and when they move around, they shoulder people out of the way and don't say anything.... Oh well.. whatever... parties are what you make of it I guess.
Marco V was awesome!! and when he played Push.. that was just killer. The sounds system was pretty messed though, and you could really hear how bad it was during that song.

Too bad I missed the meet up with the TA's... I ened up wearing a sign taped to my shirt saying: "Trance Addict?"
haha...
I put up some photos:

I actually spent a bunch of time in the house room and saw Hirshee play... Really impressive mixing!!
Can't wait to Twisted... Hope to meet some of you TAs then.

Well, I didn't mention it before, but I'm glad someone did... what is with the dry humping right on the floor? I swear these kids were only like 15 years old!

I came to this party with 2 of my Australian friends, and they had the same response I had to the party. Now, they've never been to a party in Vancouver, and I had them all pumped up about it. They've never seen anything like it before. They were almost disgusted by how fucked up people got, and how young the kids are, and all the old etarded Asians. I've gotten the impression from them that they don't care if they ever go to a party in Vancouver again.

Being that the west coast is where I live... I will always help promote Vancity parties and the guest DJ's they bring along, but there has to be some way that we can control what happens inside these parties. I'm not saying that I have the answers, but these all ages events are killing me!

We need to take the next step and throw parties like they're going out of style. Nice huge outdoor events that brings big name DJ's and people who want to hear them. I like to call myself a Tranceaddict, and I wonder how many other people at these parties can call themselves the same thing? It almost makes me wonder if I'm the only one... or if it's time to question my faith???

The kids I saw dry humping weren't on the floor. There wouldn't have been room for them to be doing that shit anyway. They were all doing it in the BC Room (the progressive chillout room) in the seats...this one couple I was sitting like 2 feet away from, taking up like 5 seats cause they were all over each other. ARGH...the damned fucking kiddies are usually the worst thing about parties. That's why I still think bigname DJs should stick to playing clubs here. The clubbing scene is far classier, I guarantee that even if you walk into a place like Viva where 99% percent of the clientele is Asian, you won't see a ton of x-ed out 50 year olds. You should have taken your Australian mates to a clubnight first

You should be proud of yourself for being a true TA, I think...in a scene where so many people go to electronica events just to get so fucked they can't see straight, it's always comforting to me to know that there are others out there who party because they love the music.

That was a good party, just cus of the music, the crowd is the fuckin worst i ever seen in my fuckin life, there should be a race limit.... i mean a vancouver party with 80 % non- white people...
i mean, wtf do 60 year old asian people have to do with Marco V ???

you must be a moron.
#1. you should be shot.
#2. if you're not a racist then why is it that you want a race limit?
#3. if a rave consists mostly of asians then what does that matteR? it just means asians like to go to raves more then the other races.
#4. you should be shot again.
#5. 60year olds at raves. is there a problem with this? are you saying 60 year old people cannot enjoy Marco V as much as a 16 year old?
#6. you should be shot 1 last time.... actually 2 more times for re-assurance.

oh goodie goodie, more asian bashing

just a comment here: i went to summer love 2000 and i think i saw maybe 10-15% asian people there, yet a large portion of the other people, including white kids, were tripping out on E.

fact of the matter is that electronic music is rather popular in asia as opposed to canada. so when the 'fcked up asians' come to canada, they like to continue frequenting electronic music related events. it is not about the race here, its all about music preference. nothing we can do to make while folk in canada like trance, except for breaks but thats another story.

moral of the story: when you go to a party and there's someone you dont like, ignore them. why bother wasting your time and energy bitching about 60 year old vietnamese guys? THEY are the ones who'll be suffering the after effects of drugs, not you, so just go dance in another corner. aiight?

The general sketchiness of people at raves in Vancouver isn't something new and isn't something isolated to asians. When I first started going to raves here in 1998 everyone, and I mean EVERYONE was fucked up on E or worse -- at this time I remember seeing like 20%asians compared to white people. Plaza parties seem to attract older asians en-masse, but rest assured, it would be the exact same vibe if it was all white people. Christ how many fucking times do we have to go over this?

As for Vancouver's general scene, I dunno. I've never been to raves elsewhere, but I've been clubbing at the top venues in other cities and I've seen just as many people on drugs as I do here. Get used to it, it's part of the EDM culture and I can't see that changing any time, well, ever.

i'd have to agree with this and the statements earlier. there shouldn't be any age or race imposition, there should be a stupidity imposition.

as sean said, really, drugs seem to be part of the scene, or for that matter, drugs are just party of society and probably always will be. i guess the best thing to do is just ignore them and let them do their thing. as long as they dont spike my drinks, go driving while they're high (or anything else stupid).

as long as there are good tunes, and the crowd is dancing, can't complain too much. and as others have said, you can't make the western white people like trance. vancouver has a history of rock, alternative, and now kids are being spoon fed hiphop and MTV. that's what they grow up liking. we should be so lucky to have any kind of audience (that being the asian community) that likes eletronica, or else if clubs never got filled, djs wouldn't bother coming out here.

I didn't want to waste my time getting into an elaborate post about Tayfoon's comments, but here goes. I've seen fucked up people at clubs and raves from Amsterdam to Ibiza, and yes also @ the Plaza Of Nations. Don't know how long this Tayfoon character has been involved in the scene here, but there has been a huge number of asians at every single rave I've been to in this city since I started partying 3-4 years ago. Sure they used to sketch me out a little bit, but after having partied with them front center for a good solid 2 years, I have learned to accept thier place in the Vancouver party scene, and even *gasp* become friends with some of them. Don't know about the rest of you, but I'd rahter party/dj for a group of older people on drugs (asians included), as opposed to kids aged 14-18 etc. I'll end this by saying that older people fucked on drugs have just as much right to be at parties as do closed minded, ignorant shallow people like Tayfoon.

Every time i go to Van for a Club\Rave, I see the same thing. I dont mind it at all. But if i was a DJ i would. Personally people in Van need to get claps\chant etc going for the DJ. It seems that everytime I go to Van , none of this happens. It gets the crowd into it. Anyways.. just stating my opinion! hopefully this wont happen at Twisted.. thanks..
