Well I've only listened to those artists a few times, but they are indeed creating music that falls into the overall genre known as "trance."
What defines the overall genre? I think most people would agree with me when I say it includes the following:
- A "4-on-the-floor" beat
- Some variation on the supersaw as the leading melody (although the transgressive movement is starting to phase that out)
- The well-known "buildups" and "breakdowns" that trance tends to carry to an extreme at times
- If the track has any vocals, 95% of the time it will be a female singer.
- Some variation on the "melodic" theme or the "uplifting" theme - in essence a focus on the composition's tonal aspects, not the rhythmic aspects.
With that said, you can see that the artists mentioned above my post do indeed fall into the category called "trance." If you are of another mindset, I'd love to hear what it is (and more importantly, why).
