dj sammy
sylver
darude
and other shit....

thanks....

Well I've only listened to those artists a few times, but they are indeed creating music that falls into the overall genre known as "trance."

What defines the overall genre? I think most people would agree with me when I say it includes the following:

- A "4-on-the-floor" beat
- Some variation on the supersaw as the leading melody (although the transgressive movement is starting to phase that out)
- The well-known "buildups" and "breakdowns" that trance tends to carry to an extreme at times
- If the track has any vocals, 95% of the time it will be a female singer.
- Some variation on the "melodic" theme or the "uplifting" theme - in essence a focus on the composition's tonal aspects, not the rhythmic aspects.

With that said, you can see that the artists mentioned above my post do indeed fall into the category called "trance." If you are of another mindset, I'd love to hear what it is (and more importantly, why).

well said...it's just a little different twist on 'trance' as probably most of us enjoy it. each to his/her own.

I'm sorry to admit that the vocal/lyrics in DJ Sammy - Heaven are great, but of course the trancey stuff is horrible.

Well sure no doubt about it, the lyrics make the piece into a song, and at a heightened "cheese rating" to boot.

That's exactly my attitude. Let people like what they want to like, and stop preaching!

I get the impression that the poster doesn't believe those artists belong in the trance genre at all.
