I'd recommend you try HotWire.com - I and most of my friends have used it both for Toronto & Montreal/NYC Hotels and while they don't tell you the name of the Hotel until AFTER you pay we've never been disappointed - the star rating is very accurate - anything 3.5 stars and up on there is *very* nice - for instance the Sheraton & Westin Harbour are either 3.5 or 4 stars on there respectively. You can usually get rooms for less than half the price of regular travel sites - the only caveat is that you cannot cancel after you book.

Do a search, choose downtown toronto, and you'll find at least 2 hotels between $58 and $70 US a night - either of those will be close to guv.

its not close but Courtyard Marriott on yonge street has NEVER failed me...pay a lil more for the comfort...dont wanna end up staying in a shithole...xP believe me...and avoid RAMADAS like the plague..worst service, worst room conditions...i still remember when we stayed at the RAMADA by the airport omg **shudder** try priceline...when we went up to Toronto for RANK 1 at KoolHaus my frn booked two rooms w/king size beds it ended up being about $250USD for three nites (after conversion from Canadian dollars...since the exchange rate varies iono how much this is in CAN $$) but he used priceline and u cant cancel or get a refund -- thats the only problem. still tho that was a GREAT rate he got...
