The research is outlawed by the Senate, but that is only if the research wants to use Federal funds...

if a company has private funding in the US, they can do whatever they like, even reproductive cloning! (as opposed to therapeutic cloning)

and this is coming from Dr Stephen Minger, the head of Stem Cell Research at Kings College London, my university.
