Since I installed the Googlebar for Mozilla, I’ve never had to type in the URL, thus I've not seen the changes they made to the front screen!

Hey, don't forget to sign up for Google e-mail now by requesting they send you an e-mail to your existing address when they are ready to go live in about a month. Best to get in on the ground floor. Heard as a rumor, the invitees (like you asking for an e-mail address) will get a gig of space as initial users. I'll take anything more than I got for free now on Yahoo. Can't lose either way...
Lol!

(Mountain View, California-AP) -- You know about E-mail, but are you ready for G-mail?
Online search provider Google is introducing a free E-mail service as it raises the stakes in its battle against Yahoo! and Microsoft.
The company is promising to provide up to 500 times more storage space for users than the market-leading e-mail services provided by Yahoo! and Microsoft Hotmail.
Hoping to make money from the service, dubbed "G-mail," Google has told its computers to mine the topics in the E-mails and then deliver text-based ads related to those subjects.
For instance, an E-mail from one friend to another discussing an upcoming concert might prompt Google to include an advertising link from a ticketing agency.
For now, Mountain View, California-based Google is only opening up the service to invited users but expects to make it accessible to everyone within a few weeks. People interested in signing up for an account are being encouraged to register at www.gmail.com.

I think the change to the name Gif is a little more disturbing..they added some shading that made me look at it again.
I use safari as my default browser and it has a google search field in it so I rarely look at anything but results unless I am searching for images..then it is search and hit images on results page.
I will admit I wigged out roally when AltaVista changed their whole layout in like 1998. I had been a power user on that site then they made it all wacked out and un-useful so I switched to yahoo.
Now I do google just because it is easier due to said search bar.
