Yeah i can't see why a dentist would need to use a general, unless he was really going to town on your mouth.

Ketamine was originally designed and is still used, as a general anaesthetic. A mate of mine who was a big ket cainer, was administered ketamine as a GA for an op she had to have on her hand, or arm, cant remember which. Anyway, she just quit ket for 6 months or so and she was fine for the op.

I always thought ket was a tranq rather than an anaesthetic.

I’m having one of my Wisdom teeth from my right hand side taken out, plus some other stuff done that I don’t understand/can’t remember exactly what the dentist said.

I don’t think it’s that major of a procedure, however I have a phobia of the Dentist and feel no same in admitting it. It’s not just a slight fear, but unparallel abject terror. I’ve had two dentists, my first and the current one. The reason that I’m so scared is because of the way that my first one treated my mum and I. Anyway, they are not doing it at my current surgery, but are referring me to a bigger one which specialises in giving generals and more complex procedures etc.

wisdom teeth can be a bit of an arse to get out, so if you have a phobia of dentists then a general is the sensible way forward

I had a general just over a year ago for an accident on my arm. I was really nervous to start with becuase i didn't like the idea of being knocked unconcious while i just sat there and unable to do anything about it.

It wasn't too bad, you get like an anti sickness thing first then the milky stuff, they say count back from 10, but all that I thought about was trying to stay concious.

You can feel quite drousy afterwards and i was sick. But its such a cmommon practice there is nothing to worry about. But I agree its odd to have it for dental work.

Yeah its used now as a horse tranquilizer, but it was still designed and is still used as a GA.

Probably slightly diffrent properties/quantites.

i love GAs. love waking up from them even better.

I have worked in a theatre for 3 years where we put people to sleep for fucking huge operations dozens of times a day, and every dentist who puts a person to sleep using general anaesthetic MUST have an anaesthetist present by law. on top of that, they require licenses that can only be obtained by certain people and equipment being present in every single surgical procedure that takes place. this is nonsense about people never waking up. not now, these days anyway

They stopped using Ket as a general for adults because people started complaining about the wired visuals. They still use it on babies and infants apparently because they can’t complain!
