sorry i didnt really answer your question
the dm2 is just a controller for traktor like final scratch.

dm2
http://www.mixman.com/html_h/dm2.html

traktor
http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?traktor2_us

final scratch
http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?traktor2_us

final scratch uses digital vinyl and is sold with traktor

where as

dm2 is a cheap plastic dual jog wheel thing which has been "cracked" for use with traktor and other midi software

try the traktor demo its free

So if I'm getting this right....

Traktor and final scratch are software packages and the DM2 is a hardware device that can control them.

So if that's the case can the DM2 be as 'low level' so to speak such that it only controls the position of the decks for the software package.

Cause I've been to the DM2 site.. and from what I can tell you can upload your songs into it.. and then run them off the DM2. which is a concern cause all I could see was a 'scratch ring' around the side. and in the demo movies for it that simply scratched the track.

So I wanted to know if you could just use the scratch ring to control the position of the deck in the software (and if the ring would rotate itself also) or if you do upload into the DM2 then you can use the scratch ring to que rather then scratch..

Cause I was after something that wasn't much more than an attachment to a computer than was 2 decks.. with motors in them and sensors to detect their positions.

(And btw.. yer I saw the herc one.. fuck that.. 450 for a childrens toy)

some of it is right

traktor is a software dual mp3 player
download the demo so you will fully understand
http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?traktor2_us

final scratch is a hardware interface
http://www.finalscratch.com/fs4/loa...is_FS&sub=start

yes dm2 is a midi controler =(hardware interface) when "cracked" with this
http://www.pdoom.ch/dm2/

we use hardware interfaces (mouse, keyboard, dm2, etc) to control software (windows, word, tractor, etc)

the dm2 has two scratch rings =(jog wheels) a crossfader and some buttons. the jog wheels are not motorised (eg pioneer cdj100). when configured the dm2 will control traktor. the jog wheels can be used to cue and scratch as it will directly control the position of the song just like a cdj100.

cdj-100
http://www.djmart.com/picdcdpl.html

the dm2 is shit without tracktor so consider the price of traktor when you decide to purchase the dm2.

the dm2 has no internal sound card where as the hercules has a six channel. the hercules jog wheels are not motorised also

if you want the best way to mix and scratch mp3s check out rane scratch live
http://www.rane.com/scratch.html

you will be able to do similar stuff on 2 cdj-100 and a mixer as you would be able to do with a computer, traktor and a dm2

hope im a bit clearer this time
cheers,
Con

The official price of the Hercules DJ console is 240 dollar...read the review.I do not aim to be a professional DJ I guess it would cost much more to buy all the professional DJ equitment..I just want to mess around a little...and maybe throw a small party for friends with this thing ,my laptop and two speakers
