tiesto can be awesome...most of the time he chooses not to be.

I saw him a few times last year...he was terrible most of the time.

Though I saw him at gkgg, he played THE worst set ever...truely awful, went to ibiza a couple of days later & saw him at cream on the following thursday & he was amazing.

His mixing is shocking most of the time now and he seems to be dropping the most awful techno tracks in the middle of chilling trance sets...puzzles me.

99/2000/2001 tiesto was incredible as a producer & dj
2002/2003/2004 meh

I will certainly credit you with having a valid opinion regarding the popularity and skill of Tiesto.

However, in your initial post, you rate George Acosta ahead of him, which I doubt anyone will condone.

I had my doubts about Tiesto up until I saw him live at Glow in Washington DC in November of 2001, which coincidentally, was only minutes after Paul van Dyk's set at another venue in the city. Tiesto played the best set I ever heard, the club never had so much energy or love, it was a magical experience. My best clubbing night ever, due to his track selection and his demonstration of the love he has for what he does. I've heard many livesets by many DJs, but that night, he touched every single person in there with music. Needless to say, he blew PvD's set away.

Even though that was 2001, the creativity and the love for what he does is still there, he hasn't changed, just evolved. But those traits he has of an amazing entertainer are still there.

He played a concert by himself for 25k people last year, 2003, that's an incredible feat, I think he deserves all the credit he does get.

Why are people so concerned about this?? So what if 400 bizillion people like Tiesto and you don't. People like who they like for different reasons and listen to who and what they want to because that's what they're into and that's what gets them going. That's all it is, I'm amazed at people that listen to goth death metal but that's their thing and I leave it at that.

Yet somehow managed to retain massive popularity - he's like the anti-Oakey in the sense that he went to shit but stayed at the top.

I was never saying George Acosta is more talented than him, I was just saying there are other DJ's than just Tiesto to talk about. I think everyone is getting this thread twisted by thinking we're totally trashing the guy. No not at all. Got me?

So apparently the new American TiT fad is Tiesto-bashing.

You know there are plenty of great DJ's out there that I don't see everyone rantin and ravin about. For example : Paul Van Dyk, Oakenfold, Digweed, Sasha, Sandra Collins, Acosta, Kai Tracid, Etc.

Erm, people on TA rant and rave about PvD much more than Tiesto. For every Tiesto praise, there are 10 people bashing him. Your argument doesn't make much sense.

Hmmmmmm. Ok you Limey Bast*rd, that's telling you right there in your words you are saying that it's obvious that Tiesto isn't the greatest.
1 Tiesto praise vs. 10 bashes ???

bwahaha so true.
His tracks are ok, just track placement within the set is total shit compared to 2001 and prior and also his mixing suffers because of it.
