...and he was prolly an adrenaline junkie. HOWEVER, gotta give him respect for being 5'11 and being an all american linebacker in college and then being offered 9 mil in the nfl. the guy could really hit. well at least some wide reciever is no longer going to cry one day.

also people lets not forget he died in Afghanistan not Iraq. he was fighting for the right reasons, he was just unlucky. also, it shouldn't ever be surprising when a ranger dies.

Obviously the Iraq war was completely unrelated to those who attacked America (and makes about as much sense as attacking Mexico after Pearl Harbor), but I think what this guy did is very admirable.

He died fighting Al Qaeda after all.

Actually you might want to chose Canada next time in your analogy.

Mexico was much closer to Germany in WWII than the USA.

In fact Mexico was sent a telegram uring it to declare war against the USA, this telegram was intercepted by the USA in the port of Galveston.

I believe the USA sent a warning to Mexico and it decided to stay out of the war. But nonetheless it was close enough with Germany for Germany to send it a request for it to declare war against the USA.

I just cant feel sorry for this guys death. He was a soldier, he joind of his own free will, he wasnt drafted, he wasnt forced to join, no, he said to himself im ok with killing other people and i guess i ok with myself getting killed. Well he learned the hard way that war is a bitch. Maybe somebody else could learn from his mistake and stop sending people to distant countries to kill and get killed but until then this guy is just another body in the bag on both sides.

I don't see anyone asking you to feel sorry for Pat Tillman last time I checked. While I profoundly disagree with the Iraq campaign, the Afghanistan one was indeed needed, after all that is where Al-Qaeda was and still are. All those who seem to think he was a moron for joining to fight in a country where those who indeed did attack America were hiding unlike in Iraq can all piss off for all I give a damn. Some people are truly some sanctomonious S.O.B.s Learn to separate Iraq from Afghanistan in your anti-American jargons and then you can have some common sense, I usually do

Well, on one side you could say that he did give up a life of luxury and wealth (temporarily, though, keep that in mind!), but on the other I agree with my neighbour that it was his own choice and that he is no more of a hero than an average Joe fighting alongside him. Whether he did it because of patriotic feelings or because of adrenaline rush is really difficult to answer, so we shouldn't be glorifying or bashing him any more than we do with the rest of the soldiers. Maybe I'd consider him a hero if he'd joined the soviet forces who fought the talibans in Afghanistan back in the 80's

Yes, you are absolutely correct. The only difference is that this was a guy who is a much more public figure. It's a story that is much more well known and one the media can run with and milk for a lot more. It's sad, but true how the system works.

this guy indeed is a hero, but i can't see what makes him any better than the other x number of soldiers that has died in afganistan.

you may call the soldiers in iraq stupid, but yeah, i would probably consider them heroes aswell, yet stupid ones who fight such stupid war.
