I do agree that it is all about the music, but my own opinion is that the DJ's aura does add something to the show. I saw Armin and Ferry a couple of months ago, and there is nothing like wathching THEM jump around for 3 or more hours. We were glued to watching the DJ booth for those 2 shows...then, last weekend we saw PVD in Chicago. We LOVED the tunes, and the crowd, and the experience, but watching him is a real buzz kill! We did our own thing and avoided watching him until the last 2 songs. Even then he looked like he didn't he was having much fun . But hey, I don't know what is in his brilliant little mind...all I know is I prefer a DJ with some life! YAY! So, leave the jumpin' to Tiesto, AVB, and others...and just love PVD for what he is

Yea, I know. Especially Tiesto. Sometimes I wonder if he had his face altered just so that he's smiling all the freaking time. Like The Joker from "Batman"

*roofles* Yeah I hate it when DJs look like they're enjoying themselves.

I thought the same thing when I saw that. I could care less either way, but it is nice to see a DJ so into his set. You can't help but get into the set with him. Fan interaction is always nice. It doesn't mean that I like PvD any less. He's just more reserved than some others. Some people are that way. Ferry on the other hand...

this is probably the nicest thread I have read on this subject manner I know a dj who seems to be similar to PvD in personality, so I see PvD differently. I have always enjoyed watching him spin, reminds me of my best friend and so I see him (PvD) having a great time. Maybe not jumping around as much as others, which is fun too, but very in tune with the music and crowd, and so genuine... different personalities connect with the crowd in there own unique way... so maybe it is the similar personality types...and I know how much fun my best friend has....
anyway, I think it is his passion, and that it is always fun to watch someone doing what they love... no matter how they express it

Exactly. Not everyone is outgoing...some people are quiet and stand offish. Why should it be surprising that a DJ be that way? After all...he's still a person first. As long as they smile from time to time and make eye contact I'm happy.
