See this is what I'm talking about. People think that since there's only shit being played on the radio/billboard charts that good music doesn't exist anymore.

Dig deep and explore people.

I do listen to other music, but it really hasn't been a priority to seek it out. I would never tell someone that only listened to rock music that they were being close minded if they didn't open their horizons to trance. It's a matter of choice. Maybe people on here don't like listening to other things. I was making a statement by what I wrote...it wasn't meant to define me. At least I said I listened to more than just EDM.

EDIT: Quote my whole post if you are going to quote me.

I've got some RATM and some Linkin Park and some 311 CDs if that's what you mean...I didn't start off with electronica.

My comment wasn't directly towards you, just the similar attitude that some people have in common.

It is true that it's a matter of choice, because who is to tell someone else what to and what not to listen to, but I think variety is good. Hell, even out of the music subject, new things in life are great.

IMO, just saying "no other music can be good" is very closed minded. It seems ridiculous that out of the probably millions and millions of other songs, someone could not like a single one... I think almost everybody would be able to find something they like in those millions of songs. However, if I was to only hear what most other people listen to (non trance) I would agree that all other music sucks. Most people aren't going to go searching for other music though, and i can appreciate that. I'm really into music myself, and i think it's one of the greatest things in life, so i find it to be worth searching for.

Hard Trance/Trance and some house stuff is probably my favorite, but I also like some rap, classic rock, punk, old country, classical, metal, etc...

BTW: Anyone else here really dig The Streets? I can't wait for their new album, it's coming out in less than a month

I agree that variety is good...but once again it is a matter of choice. I like various "rock" bands and some contemporary artists but there is too much other garbage on the airways nowadays for me to literally seek out new music. I own CDs by other artists outside of EDM, but right now my passion is trance and other forms of EDM. When I was younger I loved Freestyle, New Wave, Jazz, and what is now considered to be Classic Rock. I still listen to all of that. I said in my first post that I am more inclined to like songs by an artist than an artist as a whole. When I buy Cds by bands I end up disliking most of the CD. The radio stations here suck so for me to have exposure I would have to search online. I don't have the desire to seek out new artists right now because it just isn't something that I worry about. I like what I listen to. If I ever get bored or need to hear something new I will make the effort. Until then...
