A great friend of mine went to Europe and brought back a bunch of burned CDs he got from his cousins or something while there full of trance. He didn't like them but knew someone who would (which was not me)...when he brought them back I somehow ended up listening to them and was glued to the tunes. Just couldn't get enough of them. I ended up keeping all the CDs. Like 25 of them, but I have no idea who they are from as they are just non-labelled CDs full of music.

This was in 1994 or 1995.

So there was never any one tune that did it for me...at the time (read on).

I never really went out of my way back then to get deeper into the whole trance scene. I would just go around to listening stations and if I liked something, I bought it.

Then I met a person who was a Trance DJ locally in the Orlando area and got into all kinds of stuff. This was when I first heard Tiesto in 1997. He later went into the military and gave me all of his CDs. Like 1,500 of them! His collection from like 1990 - 1997. A lot of duplicates in there. They are in storage in Florida, probably all warped now from the heat.

So that's pretty much all I listened to...then I packed up my bags in November 1999 and moved to San Francisco to see if I could get a job in the industry I'm in...I finally land a position where I am now in Jauary 2000.

A few weeks after I start I was walking through our production area and I heard someone listening to some trance...and we started talking about trance and the scene here. Low and behold, it's pretty big here!!!

Anyhow, I had him give me the mix so I could give it a listen...it was a mix by DJ Doboy and I have to give him all the credit for making me as hardcore as I am now. I don't like his stuff anymore really (pretty damn cheesy...even the stuff back then was pretty cheesy compared to my standards now ), but it made me want to hear everything I could. And since that day, I've been on the path I'm on...

t6he first track from the first techno cd that I ever burned in 2000 was Chicane - Saltwater. but there was all kind of other tracks on that cd, like DJ Venom, Space Girl, PVD, ATB etc.
But the first track that I fell in love with is definitely
Paul van Dyk - Fallen Angel ( Ewerk club mix )
