He has done the right thing.. He is part of the AUSTRALIAN team, not the Craig Stevens team. If he swam at Athens, he probably wouldnt even make the final. Now he has given Australia a chance at the gold medal. Sure, he puts in a lot of time & effort into training at some ungodly hour of the morning (probably the same time of morning that we decide what recovery to go to), but he knows he isnt as good as Thorpe, not yet at least.
he would have copped it before, during & after the Olympics if he hadnt pulled out. He still gets to swim in the relays with the chance of a medal, and has made some cash for selling his story.. a win win situation.

But that was just a dream, That was just a dream, But that was just a dream, Try, cry, why try? That was just a dream ,Just a dream, just a dream, Dream

Stevens is a PUSSY!Probably never be a champion with a weak attitude like that.
What if Thorpe does the same again

LOL is obious none of you have ever swum before. you need to understand the physical drain that swims put on you. especially if your doing a 1500 a 400 and a 200 in the space of a week. Each event has heats and then finals later on.

nah actually i applaud mr stevens, good on him for ensuring himself a place in the australian hall of fame, right next to greg norman and scott mcclaren for OUR FAVOURITE AUSTRALIAN SOFTCOCKS.

Considering he earnt the place by default, imagine the pressure he would have been put under to win. His personal best time wouldn't have got him into the finals and he was 20m+ back behind Hackett at the finishline of the trials.
When it came to the Olympics and he failed, everyone would have got on his back about why he should have stepped aside for Thorpe.

Now he can focus on his specialist event without the pressure of Australia haunting him for 6 months. Its not like he's not going to Athens anymore, he stepped aside for the best swimmer in history to swim in his best event.

It may be an individual race, but its still a team that takes part.

Yer, i at first thought, hey Thorpe you chump, u fall off and still get a place....

But i didnt realise that Stevens had 2 races, and only being in one, gives him a better chance in taking that one out.

Well, so the media and swimming ppl lead me to beleive.

Whatever...

I just hope Roy and HG are signed up for another installment of The Dream.
