This set is sick from beginning to end. Brilliant intro, right from the start I knew this set would have me by the balls until the end. Just from the first minute, I knew I'd be curious to see what Dan did next in regards to mixing / selection and direction. As I was very curious to see if he'd stay with the classic "house sound" or if he would move onto something else. (which imo he did eventually)
When I heard "Dusk till Dawn" coming in to the mix, I just broke out in laughter cuz I had a feeling that I'd be up and dancing soon after. (which again, yes was the case). This track is so huge but I don't think it's blown up just yet, I do predict this to be THE song of the summer. Brilliant mix in and out of that. It took me three listens to notice the sick transition into "Give the People" which I thought was the end to "Dusk till Dawn" because it fits so god damn well. Bravo on that one.
I liked the direction of the mix fading more and more into darker / tribal inspired tracks as it progressed eventually into the end. Perfect imo, I wasn't sure if you were going to get "trancier", I was hoping the last track would be very sander-esque but you did stay true to the mix, for that I also applaud the mix. (very cohesive throughout)
the cow bell track also got me excited...
And I thought for sure for sure the mix was over when I heard "Echoes from Daruma" as it would of been nice closure as the mix starts off with the acapella. But again, you cleaned it up nicely.
Not much else really to say about this set. I recommend it to no end and I've listened to it over 25 times in the span of 3-4 days with zero hint of getting sick of it. The mixing is flawless, the track selection is brilliant, and imho it's the perfect summer cd.
cheers Dan, and thanks for the set.
