boring to the untrained ear. the changes are subtle, and have to be listen for not - just placed on a platter in front of you. they also play different kinds of music from trance to house to breaks to a mix of all three. how someone can listen to sasha's GU13 disc 2 and call it boring baffles me. if you mix and are really passionate about the music i promise you will soon see true quality and true creativeness and true music, not just easily appealing dance tracks with their o so catchy melodies 'cause they get old real quick

Not sure if you meant "who is Armand Van Helden" sarcastically as well, but he is one of the pioneers of american electronica, with the high point of his career probably being the remix he did of Tori Amos "Professional Widow". It kicked the song into charts everywhere. Other than that he's made "Phunk Phenomena" , "Which Doctor" and "Ultrafunkula" all of them is very, very funky. Lately he's made the "You don't know me" sweeter-than-sugar house-track that made him drop from my top ten of producers, and "Koochy" which is a rather fine track.
The thing is, this list (which I believe has been discussed here before?) is not top 100 trance DJs or house DJs or anything else but all of them at once. And thus it is really worthless. Likewise, there's no point in arguing whether a brick-layer or a carpenter build buildings the best way.
Finally, I agree that Armin Van Buuren doesn't deserve a place in the DJ top 100 (even if it was strictly trance): Although he is a very talented producer, his mixing skills are non-existing and his track-selection could be beaten by a hapless fellow pointing at random at his record collection. I build this opinion on his performance at Club Eau 6/1-2001. Please don't argue back that "Boundaries of Illusion" etc. is great albums, cause these mix-albums are done in a studio using Pro Tools (which removes the need for real-time DJ-skills) and the tracks are usually chosen by the record-company from a large list submitted by the author (in this case AvB). But if anyone can come up with a liveset from AvB that has great track selection and mixing, then I'll withdraw my herretical statements

AVB is good....
Yo Biznology, you are right !! Mr. Trancaholic shows really that he is someone who prefers House to Trance, his Posting shows that! AvB is one of the greatest Producers/DJ of our Time, without doubt. You can't tell us that Armin is a bad DJ Man, listen to his Live Set at Eau Club in 1999, that is really one of the best live Sets I ever heard from a Trance DJ. Boundaries of Imagination is for sure One of the Best Trance Albums ever made! Even when it is recorded in a Studio !! The Song Selection is so good, I could hear that CD again and again....Come on Trancaholic be realistic, hear Mix Number 9 to 10 on this CD, even when it was recorded with Technical Equipment and other Tools, this Mix is awesome and I really never heard a DJ (or very very seldom) that could conquer this Remix of both Tunes...!!! Please do not tell us that Armin van Buuren is a bad DJ and so on...I think everyone in this Trance Forum appreciates him and the work he does, watch out for Armin in the Next Years, I am sure that he will be one of the big Names ever in Trance History !!

Woaa..chill..
- biznology: I simply told you who Armand van Helden was (well, you did ask right ),
- the rest who got offended: and then I claimed that Armin van Buuren didn't deserve to be in the top 100 trance-DJs. Granted, the last point might have come across using too creative phrases, but I still stand by it. Now, if we were talking about the top 100 trance *producers*, Armin van Buuren would easily be in the top 10, but that doesn't automatically make him a technically competent DJ, neither does the quality of "Boundaries.." (which, I agree, is a good mix-CD).
I don't like house more than trance, but generally listen to all kinds of electronica. Trance would still have to be my fave.
