Yeah, FX should really have nothing to do with your purchasing decision in my opinion. I've not used the Xone:32 but I own a 62 and have never used any mixer I like as much (though I'm willing to bet I wouldn't mind the 92 or 464). The analogue filters are great and if you decided you really wanted effects you can always pick up a unit for that purpose which would definately give you more control over the effects. Xone:32 all the way!

As far as the effects it's not 12 different effects, it's 6 effects/channel and out of those 6 only 3 (flanger, phaser, and filter) are worth much of anything. I didn't really buy it for the effects though so I'm not to worried about the quality of them. I mainly bought it as a startup mixer to see if I would actually like the DJ thing and have quickly grown to love it (can't say the same for my bank account). I plan on getting a new one when I either outgrow it or it goes to shit, so for what I bought it for it works like a charm.

I own a dxm06 as well, it's good value for money but I only use the filter effect. I will eventually move on to a better mixer tho.

It's great for bedroom bangers.

I agree totally. I think since I've got it I've actually used the effects on it (in a mix) maybe twice. As I said before it works good for what I want it to do, of course if I had the cash burning a hole in my pocket I would spring for the Xone. However, seeing as I'm poor and alot of my spare income goes into vinyl, a Xone is nothing but a pipe dream right now.

Nah mate forget the DXM06 get it's big brother like I did.

PPD01 same price (£199 normally £330ish) but EX-Demo gets shipped straight from the Alesis factory with a 12 month warranty and a free pair of shit headphones. Thats your best bet for the money.

Think about when you go to sell it too...... it's a £300+ level mixer which you paid £200 for i.e. you'll get more for it say £150+ or something.

ok this is all good stuff. so basically we are swinging towards the xone32 does noone wanna stick up for the pcv275?i spose i need to try these mixers out to see if theres actually 300 pounds worth of difference between say the xone32 and the dmx06. truth is - for a mixer that has no effects or anything special that i can see, can the xone32 really be 300 pounds better quality?
dan =)

Well, I will stand up for the 275. I have one myself, it's a Good solid mixer, will last you years just like techs. No FX on it, but it does have one more channel thant the dmx, and it's cheaper than the xone.

It sounds nice, EQs are excellent, kill switches are good, metering is good, it's all in all an excellent mixer to use.

Lets put it this way. If it was between the Vestax and the Allen and Heath and money wasn't a problem, Allen and Heath hands down would win my purchase.

I own a $1500 mixer, that has no effects or other digital crap on it.

Dateq LPM 7.3

Why have I bought it? Because of its quality, not of its super-cool effects (it has no effects ).

What i'm trying to say is, don't buy a mixer because of its looks or its features, buy it because of its quality.

In your situation, i would definately go for the A&H, although the PCV 275 is not a bad mixer at all.

if you are playing breaks, i would reccommend the vestax. the faders are nice and sharp and the kills are very useful. i hate the allen & heath faders, in particular the x-fader... its dogshit! completely useless for any cutting needs..

the filters are nice on a xone 32, but that is all there is and it gets a bit boring, not to mention the thing is shit ugly. pcv 275 comes in champagne (oooo).

if you want fx, buy an fx unit. spend the money on touhger hardware inside the mixer

Don't forget that Numark PPD01 deal... £200 instead of £300+.

it has filters

ace faders(d-type digital)

the ablity to have either the channel or master out level shown on the LEDs

unbelivable sound quality (100+dB SNR I belive different for phono but it is for all)

crossfade cue section

and 7 effects (tho I'd only use 3 of them ish)

Whatever you do tho don't settle for the DMX6 if you are gonna pay that much get the PPD01 istead. If you can pay more then perhaps get a Xone or whatever.

so dervish are they ex display models on that website?looks a pretty good mixer though. does everyone agree then that the allen and heath will last longer and is a better build quality? and that it will serve me well for the types of music i am going to be playing?although i am only vinyl now, i am thinking that in the future i may need to add a cdj so 3 channels is prob best. i suppose also that buying the allen and heath now may save money in the future on upgrading. any thoughts? the mixer i just had was a k2f ltd - didnt have it for long i sold it almost immediately on ebay. it was so basic for 250 pound and had a 2 pin plug - and didnt have a secondary booth output for monitor speakers - how poor is that!
