Those who dont want smoke in clubs? Fine. However why do smoking rooms bother you? You dont have to go there and smokers get a chance to puff away. This will attract the smokers who want to smoke and allow the bar patrons who dont want it to remanin smoke free.

Oh and the dream about attract non smokers to clubs? I dont buy it. People who dont smoke are not going to avoid clubs because of it. If they do this they arent real clubbers anyways.

I agree with you here, smoking rooms don't bother me at all becuase i'd never enter one. CLUBS on the other hand please for the love of god ban smoking in clubs!

as a smoker im kinda on the fence with this issue.

It is a bit ridiculous that the city would make you spend large money on renovations for a ventalation system to then ban smoking entirely.

Enforcement is the key issue. Does the province (or is it the city?) have the money to spend on enforcement officers? In today's age of tight budgets, I'b like to see them try.

I was working at the Phoenix the last time they tried to ban smoking (1997) and it was a sham. Bouncers have other concerns.

In Guelph and Waterloo the police go through the bars looking for smokers. The bouncers are usually running ahead of them trying to get the smokers before they do. Since the ban was created in my area, it has taken 2-3 years for the smoking to actually stop in the bars. After enough fines the bars will enforce the non-smoking rules.

There were also a bunch of bars that tried to fight the fines, in the end, they spent more on legal fees then the original fines that were levied but still lost anyways.

Good to see the police in Guelph don't have any crimes to solve.
