I don't know where you guys get this info but both decks have the same motor, power supply, drive control pcb, speed selector pcb, strobe illuminator pcb, and the only difference between the two technically is the pitch reset switch and the pitch control pcb.

Another thing, if you don't believe me, GET A SERVICE MANUAL!!! or better yet, Rip appart a mk2 and compare it to a m3d. There's no difference in torque, there's no difference about the quartz lock control pcb, Their the same damn decks and the only difference is the pitch reset button, power on/off switch, the cartridge holder, hingeless dust cover, and it come's with a slipmat on the m3d.
