hey dude, try using photoshop or the likes to reduce the brightness and increase the contrast, gets rid of most smoke... Also try different flash settings, usually Night Flash (Moon in a square on most cameras) works a treat even in smoke filled rooms .. but hold that camera steady

most of the photos i post on in the mix for the various gigs i take photos at are edited in photo shop first .. (i don't add things like glare etc, just change colours and brightness !) and look much better than the originals

Wow! that looks great, thanks for the advise. i havn't had the camera very long so am still learning . Will def play around with it a bit more before the next event. My brother uses photoshop all the time so i'll get him to teach me some more stuff
