i had my years with it. Horrible memories.
watching things like Saved By the Bell is a shame to the reality of High School and the issues that comes to young adults.
I never participated in group activities. Sat alone at lunch. never looked into peoples eyes.
the people who try and help will always say "just go out there and pretend you are the most social person in the world"
I would say "i just can't. i'm not built like that"
Who was making the mistake? Ultimately, and in review of the past, the counselor was always right. All i had to do was talk to a few people, gain trust over and over until the smile came to your face after every hello, the trust built after time, things like that.
When u see people on the sidewalk, just say "good morning" or whatever and start small. Then look in their eyes and say it. then smile. respond. things like that. start small and keep going for a goal every week.
but socialphobia is definently tough. vomiting. sickness, depression. anger. isolation. anxiety. shakes. and worst of all, alone.

this may sound so cheesy, but as my doctor told me:
"it's like nike. just do it"

sometimes when people are assholes you exaggerate those moments and keep being depressed, but when people are being nice to you you're like "no, that can't be, they must be trying to trick me, i must be paranoid"

and you perpetuate it...

now that my self esteem is higher I can look people in the eye. yes you are right you just have to start saying "how ya goin'?" to a few people and thats it, although I must tell you this...

I work at a school and I still hate leaving the office when the kids are out at lunch.

dont know why

WOW what makes it interesting is when people know they have this problem, and don't know why or how to get around it, very strange, but hope people with this can overcome it.

I'm like both extreme opposites, sometimes I'm really social and just don't shut up, other times I could go awhile without talking to anyone, just can't be assed I guess.

I do kinda have a social problem thing, at my work, I HATE the customers, always making me work dammit, can't you see I'm trying to tell my buddy about last night.

I actually have no problem talking to almost anyone. It's all about perception. I figure who are "they" to pass judgment on me. I have walked right up to people without much of a passing thought. I've been that way for as long as I can remember. I invited PvD to party once and he accepted. You never know unless you put yourself out there. I have only had a few people get me flustered to the point where I lost train of thought. Those are the people that leave a lasting impression on me. Ferry Corsten did that to me. He was so approachable yet when he was talking to me I felt flustered. I've had a few guys do that to me in my lifetime. For some people the feeling confuses them, but to me that is the ultimate feeling.

its not a phobia, its a total lack of caring. Ill talk to people if they ask me a question, and I tend to give really heartfelt, honest answers. Even to "How yah been". If you actually tell them you have something to talk about. Call me jaded, but after doing so much stuff with my life, most people just seem boring as hell. Oh you snorkeled once in Hawaii? I went cave diving there. You rode on a small plane? I used to pilot. You played on your local gyms rock wall? ive led 5.14s outdoors...

its gay, and I always feel like im "one upping" peoples stories.

anyways...over time its just come down to me not feeling like talking to people hehe. Its a bad habit, and one that goes away when I drink. But then my conversation mainly consists of grabbing girls boobs and slapping guys on the ass and pretending to be gay. We all must simplify our lives sometimes I guess hehe.
