If you want good sound quality, insanely great tracking, low cue-burn, high output, and a good value, then check out shure m44-g. They are based on shure's m44-7 except taliored for more broader use. Sound quality IMO is very close to my whitelabels, and so is output. The advantage of these compared to whitelabels are indeed it's ability to hold a groove under abusive forms of scratching. I think you'll be happy with these. If you want a integrated cartridge then you should also check out Shure's Whitelabel, and Ortofon's Nightclub.

some strange shit, if the problem remains with both carts, i guess you're still doing something wrong.

i use to own a pair of those. IMO they sound like the cheaper 520sk but much worse b/c they tear up vinyl. don't buy them.

First things first...congratulations, you now own the last set of carts you will ever buy. Secondly, the instructions are not hard to follow, they make perfect sense...I think you haven't sat down and read them through so you understand them. Now as far as your skipping problems, 99.9% OF ALL WHITELABELS SKIP WHEN THEY ARE NEW!!! They need a little time to get broke in, and then you will not be able to get them to jump out of the groove. Set the weight to 2 grams, and 0 anti-skate, height around 2 as well. DO NOT USE ANTI-SKATE with these or any other needles for DJ'ing. If you have no clue how to set up your tone arm, or don't understand what the manual is saying after you have read through it, then you need to read how to do that. That is very important to know if you are going to be spinning. There are great how-to's and whats-that about tone arm set up on the net. Trust me, Whitelabels are excellent with virtually no record wear and the sound quality will blow you away. Ortofons sound great as well, but they wear your vinyl out pretty quick...Whitelabels are the best for both sound/wear. Good luck

Ok here is what happened. First of all, with the instructions, I read them again and it wasn't much different from the directions from the first set of carts I had. Everything I did was right, even my friend who is a DJ also said so. However he could not understand why these carts were still skipping. He advised me to take them back and get get something close to what I was using before but better. I went back to the store and told the guy who sold them to me what happened. He took the carts, handed me two brand new Whitelabels and explained that they need a little breaking in. He said that the secret is to put them on vinyl (not spinning) overnight so they break in better. Hopefully this will work because I can't wait to start spinning with these.

I must be in the minority here then vecaue I had absolutely no problems with my whitelables when I got them. Good to hear that you've got the problem sorted though.

no offense, but i am gonna have to say, bad idea. i have a set of these collecting dust, because they suck. they dont sound good and they jump out of the groove all the time. i got a set of shure m44gs, to replace them and i cant make them skip. you can also put m44-7 styli in them and have ultra loud scratch carts.

opps. i didn't read one of your latter posts. As for whitelabels, here's how i had it setup on my 1200s. (it may work the same on your ttx-1, so it's worth a shot)

height: 3mm
antiskate: 0g
tracking weight: 3g
overhang: 52mm

So try that out on a "s" tonearm and see how it works.

^^ i thought they would be good because everybody talks about staton's cheaper carts being really durable and good for the money. because the trackmasters were so expensive i thought they must be awesome, but i cant stand them. i ended up getting a set of groovemaster II rm tips for them and that made them sound alot better but i still wasnt happy with the way they held the groove, so i got some M44Gs and havent looked back. my stanton carts are collecting dust.

I have a Trackmaster II and I don't like it too much either. It came with the table when I bought it, and I got a new stylus for it, but that didn't help anything. If I ever get some money I also plan on buying a set of m44g's.
