I hate the Denon's cue functioning compared to the Pioneer's. The Denon has an extremely accurate pitch step up to a whopping 4%, and then after that you're left with a .1% step which just doesn't cut it. I hate the feel of the pitch slider on the Denon deck in comparison to the Pioneer... I'm also a bigger fan of the large jog wheel on the Pioneers as opposed to the diny little pitch bend buttons on the Denon. Pioneer all the way. if anyone wants to buy my Denon for $400 it's all yours. It's 3 months old and I never use it. lol

curious, where do you live? i was looking for a half way decent cd deck that has mp3 playback.

points well taken .... i still feel u get more for your money with the denon ...and its more versatile because it fits more ways a dj spins then dictating he must only use the platter....i have a heavy hand and pitch bend buttons are alot smoother for me personally...also i guess it has to do alot with personal choice..i would rather have the choice to use either...someone said earliar...how the cd text wasn't important and it really isn't i guess but it sure comes in handy when things have to be done quick.....

from what i have heard so far i see no advantages of the 800 over 3000 .....i only see advantages of the 3000 over 800.

wait, by cd text do you mean wave text? I have a s3000 and, unless i'm goign crazy, it doesn't have that feature.

Depending on your cd burner & software. If it's fairly new cd-r drive and you put the check (in Nero I guess) to write the tracks name, it'll burn your cd with what ever you type in the text field for that track. ex. "Paul Van Dyk - Angle (xxx bmp)" and that's exactly what'll show on display. It's a fucking sweet feature and just that by itself is enough to make me wanne piss on 800s. I'm sick of people bitching about how 800s are better than 3000s. I've used them both and hands down denon is the better player. You don't like the spinning platter? fine, turn it off. It's good to know you can dump a bunch of MP3s on a CD-RW, put it in 3000 and have fun in your room without wasting a blank cd. Yeah, we get it, mp3s don't sound good in clubs but in a small party, or in your room, who the hell cares really? burn, play, erase, burn, play, erase, ...

3000s are newer than the cdj800s with more features, better feel (imo), and for practically same price !! it's funny, I think some people just don't wanne admit what they bought 2-3 years ago, with today's standards, are getting obsolete. I'd toss my 3000s out the window in a heart beat if I had a pair of Pioneer DVJ-X1. Till then, I'm sticking to my denons.

Like pumavisor808 said, yes you can. Press and hold the scratch mode button for 2 sec and it'll stop spinning. Or with no cd in the player, hold the preset for 2 sec till you get into setup menu and you can change all sorts of settings from there including turn platter off at start.

wait, can you turn the platter off and use it as a pitch bender like the Pioneer? I didn't think that was an option, but if it is, I would have a different outlook on the player as a whole.

Yup, it's your choice whether you want it spinning or not. When it's off, it'll work like any other CD player with a jog wheel.
