I've never used anything pre version 1.5
so i can't comment about that. Neither do I want to since Linux is a piece of shit.
Mine works fine except:
1) sometimes there is no audio from Deck A when I switch it on but strangely Deck B is fine. Fixed by turning off ScratchAmp for a few minutes.
2) sound distortion once in every ~100hours. Fixed by turning off ScratchAmp for a few minutes.
Usage: 4-8hours/day, everyday.
If the new Final Scratch fixes all current hardware problems with the ScratchAmp and stops using those shitty Philips chips that cause problems, I will buy it.

no static on a powerbook though...
Your USB hub probobly cannot handle the bandwidth required. FS is sending lots of data over the USB cable (it must be coming close to maxing out the capacity as it is not using USB 2.0).

That may be but it's highly unlikely... It's all in the math...
The usb connection between scratch amp and the usb hub has to handle 4 streams of data: 2 incoming and two outgoing.
Let's just assume each is raw PCM data (worst-case scenario).
44.1kHz sampling rate * 16-bits per sample * 1 second = 705600 bits/second
705600/8 = 88200 bytes/second
88200/1024 = 86 kilobytes/second
So that's 86k/sec per stream. 2 streams read, two streams written. Under 350k/sec total.
USB 1.0 has 11 Megabits of throughput. Just do the math:
11 Megabits / 8 = 1.375 megabytes/second
So that leaves a whole meg of bandwidth for any other devices I have. Which happens to be just a mouse in my case; not exaclty the biggest bandwidth hog ever...
So, it seems the more likely case is that NI decided to release a product without proper shielding... unsurprisingly so...
