Logic and Windows can't even be mentioned in the same sentence if is to make sense. I hear someone leaked the Windows source code recently, maybe we'll get a system that doesn't shit its pants at random times.

Luckily, I know an awesome IT guy who gives me mates rates (half price, still equals around 40 bucks an hour), but its the only way that I could get windows to work half decently.

Maybe rather than using your computer to record the set, record onto MD, even tape, anything... and then transfer onto computer, just have a fade out and fade in when you need to change sides of the tape.

As for vinyls mysteriously buzzing then stopping, weird. If you still have bad karma, try to feng shui your set-up, anything to try to rectify it!

latter versions of windows based on NT seem to run stabily. I've been running my xp file server/gaming rig for over a month straight without needing to restart or turn off. XP and 2k is stable, it's just a matter of keeping your pc maintained, (scan for spyware, viruses, defrag hdd, install all critical updates, clean up startup, etc)

I'm with stupid. XP isn't too bad, if you keep it maintained. As long as you're not mixing on NT or 95, you'll be fine.

And also... a Discman to DJ?

I never said it was your fault, I was just pointing out that things don't happen "for no reason." Regardless of your opinion of the Windows line of OSes, the fact remains that things don't happen "for no reason."

As I said, check PSU, RAM, possible driver conflicts.

I don't have CDJs so I use a discman for the first track of a mix sometimes, then mix out of it with my Techs.

And yes, my XP is due for a format ever since I added a new hard drive...I'm lazy D:

I was recording a mix the other night and my White Label decides to start to buzz, so I stop recording. Pick it up today and its fine, so I give it another go. Guess what? The computer restarts. For no reason I wish I could've kicked the plug out of the wall or something so it at least would have been my fault and I wouldn't be reminded that karma has kicked me in the nutsack yet again. Oh yeah, I nearly threw my discman accross the room when the thing started to skip as I was in the middle of a transition, nothing pisses me off more than fucked up electronics I paid good money for. Now I can see why a DJ at Ultra 6 lit his CDJ1000 on fire because it was skipping.
