Thats because that most people in the world understand that city = noise and countryside = quiet.

This is why i laugh when people who live in downtown toronto complain about noise when we live in the second biggest expansive country in the world.

In Europe and South America i saw people of all ages out all night.

Many times id see families at bars at midnight and people in their 70s out on the town at 1 am.

It sure beats coming home, watching survivor and flopping into bed every night!

Goya? Which: the naked Maya or the clothed one?

You probably heard about this place.. but let's suppose (for general informational purposes and following suggestion that you haven't):
About half way between Barcelona and Perpignan there's a town of Figueres, birthplace of none other than the master of the game = Salvador Dali! Dali himself created a museum there that represents his character, his work and his crazy life. The theme, as in all of his works, depicts a surrealist, tripped out, psychedelic dream of his (from the physical appearance to the contents of it).
I've never made it there.. and I regret it..! But it's definitely very high on my priority list.

I don't know how you feel about Dali and making a stop on your way to France, but I would absolutely do that if I were you!

ps look for the dirties tapas bars

U don't say...?
Thing is about Europe, streets are a lot narrower, hence making 'across the street' seem much closer, and sounds echo off the buildings like a loudspeaker. For some RIDICULOUS reason, they have trash pick up at the ungodly hour of 4am! Then, u are rudely awakened in the morning by the sounds of gypsies blaring the same loop of a bad song on their organ hooked up to a speaker over and over and over... waiting for some fool to pay them money to leave, and people living many blocks away could hear it. Then add all the drunks singing on their way home...

I love the fact that a city has life at night. Drunks singing on the way home, garbage pickup at night.(so they dont have to get in the way during the day.) It sure beats empty lifeless streets that people are afraid to go out onto. This fosters crime.

I loved putting the trash out at night and having it disappear by morning. The best part in Argentina was that garbage pickup was EVERY NIGHT!

heh .. earplugs really arenīt necessary when ur totally wasted after a whole nite of partying where u juss basically come home and crash. atleast thatīs what iīve been doin hehe .. Madrid has been fun, but itīs coming to a close. I leave for Barcelona 2nite at 11pm to catch the night train. man Spain has juss been great.. every nite basically feels like a Saturday so you really lose track of which day of the week it is really fast. and what time of the day it is as well. a bunch of us hit up the Havana Club 2 nites ago for some crazy salsa and then checked out Commo last nite after watching the Euro Cup matches. Itīs amazing being in Europe at this time cuz every city that weīve been too there have been international fans from every country hitting up the bars.

so yeah last nite we all got wasted again and yeah wells u get the idea..

iīll see if i can check out that museum, itīs juss too bad that all of us here at the hostel have to part ways this week. half of them are heading to the beaches of San Sabastien and some to Porto to catch some Euro Cup games. 2 friends that i made here has quarter final match tickets!!

anyhow, a couple of us are gonna be in Barcelona this week so hopefully weīll be able to catch Sonar that is if the tix arenīt already sold out.

after Barcelona is southern France where i meet up with the infamous DJ Hordash heh ..

hasta luega amigos!
