Speaking of opening a new club, the perfect building is available as we speak!! MAPLE LEAF GARDENS!!! Think about it, do you really want a Loblaws opening up in that building? I didn't think so, it would be much nicer to dance on the floor that took the leafs to their last championship (methinks ). Anyhow, the building is being negotiated for as we speak, someone save it!

I work in a dept that does exactly that in a bank. we help in the financing aspect. Let me tell you, its not 8 or 10 million. What the hell do you have in there???? GOLD.
In a more technical aspect, the most expensive thing in a club, is the location. Its pretty much a cash based business, once the cash starts rolling in, there is no end to it. Something like Lucid Lounge would be somewhere around 2 to 4 million tops!!!

Any of the average clubs on Peter & Richmond Street, your looking at a million if your buying it as it is. (based on size ofcourse). Most Clubs have a life span of a year or 2 years max anyway. But if your starting something new, somewhere around 500,000 to 750,000.

later

What does it cost?

Well, after the initial investment, you must take into account the "other operating costs".

Why not ask those cops that got busted for "shakedowns"?

Yea, you've got a point. I've got a lot of friends in the construction industry and i know that something like an Eastside Marios for example, costs 750,000 - $1,000,000 to build from the ground up. This means taking a piece of land and erecting an entire building with trees and grass outside and a paved parking lot. As opposed to renting an old building and doing some renovations inside, which no matter how drastic, can't compare to building something from scratch.

The whole point of this would be the experience of building up a club, reputation and following so buying out an existing club is out of the question.
