I think everyone knows del piero is no longer the player he used to be, but the fact of the matter is that danish side were a good team (who beat england) and besides Italy always start slow in competitions like this.

Totti's tackle was mistimed, he was going for a ball he clearly thought he could win. Totti is a far more talented player than any of the english team and his class will show through later in the tournament.

In the next game gattuso and hopefully pirlo will start in the midfield and the team will play far better. maybe even cassano will come in for del piero.

you cant even attempt to defend that challenge, the ball was long gone before totti came in, with a foot higher than the top of the ball (so even if the ball was there he would achieved no contol by kicking it), and lethered the guys chins so fast he flew into the air and on his arse.
