well in high school i was poor and i had crap gear. But i did try to find different ways to do stuff. Back then i use to run around w/ my md recorder and recorded samples from the school, the street, anywhere and everyware and transfered that into my pc. Then i would record scratch sessions from my crapo str8-60 and chopped and paste that into acid along w/ earthy samples from around town. You can make pretty intresting tracks out of car horns as they drive by along w/ old smelly ghetto record shop vinyl.

Now things are different. I work at a pc shop. I spent too much money on gear and vinyl. Now instead of making the most of it i twiddle around w/ my decks and mixer and rarely get inspired to even record sets. I guess my creativty has died b/c im not around the crazy people i use to hang out with. I should go through my stack of cds and MDs and see if there's anything left that's good to start over.

Chex: thats really cool what you did, I've heard afew artists that have made amazingly interesting and nice sounding tracks using samples of crazy things.

Its a shame you lost your inspiration though, and you SHOULD go back to listening to some of your old MDs and CDs, sometimes when I kinda feel the same I go back and listen to the mixes I recorded like 8 years ago, when I was still getting into it, and after, all I wanna do is spin, you should maybe listeing to some different types of music related to EDM, I find Ambient versions of trance music AMAZING, or listening to stuff like Boards Of Canada, I should get into producing cos I come up with some amazing ideas that a sound that I hear in there music sparks off.

For people into scratching.
Heres another "Kinda" scratch tutorial, but this time its a vid.

LOL...yea I hate it when somebody says its easy and they could do it, one of my buddies thought this, so I said I'll give him afew minutes and all he has to do is beatmatch and sync the 2 records, they don't have to sound good or have any EQin going on, and I tiold him if he can do that, he can have my setup and anything else in my room

seriously, i can do that... i just don't think I could do it with five or so records in a row. now about the cueing...

I think i've been completely ruining my records or something... I thought you hit play, straight up stopped the platter, found the place in the record, and while the table is still running (but stopped) you just let off the platter so it starts spinnin' again.... man maybe that messed up the motor or something... damn, damn, damn
